Welcome! I watch virtually no television or movies but if you want to talk about solitaire board games, podcasts, or the endless despair or parenthood I'm your guy!

The Dark Tower. Idris Elba + Matthew McConaughey. Stephen King movie

I think that makes a delightful ton of sense and I am 100% on board. Please tell your ethereal source not to let me down.

Reminds me a lot of Dark Souls in many ways. Oh man, Dark Souls. Talk about laughing to keep from crying. Do we already have an entire thread devoted to cathartic Dark Souls memes? I'll assume not and just go for it here. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170621/f986a294612846ab1be77079e6d4521e.jp...

Amazon to buy Whole Foods for $13 billion. That's a weird one I think it makes a lot of sense. It advances Amazon into two areas they've been eyeing for a while: groceries and brick & mortar. But don't take my word for it; I'm only a PARTIAL genius*. Here's an article from Th'Atlantic that I ha...

Kevin Feige Confirms Venom Isn’t Part of the MCU http://screenrant.com/kevin-feige-confirms-venom-isnt-part-of-the-mcu/ For one scalding hot minute there was a rumor that the recent movie "Life" was a secret stealth prequel to Venom. How amazing would that have been? Going beyond Feige's ...

I have been an avid consumer of Des Moines minor league sports for about nine years now and the minor league basketball has consistently been my favorite. Bummer that they finally got away from the awful "D-League" and straight into a hackey sponsorship-name that makes no sense whatsoever....

Deck maintenance/refinishing

Moved into our new house this past weekend. We have a deck off the back patio that is fairly worn and looks like the wood is all dried out and could potentially start chipping. I was wondering if anyone has and experience with restoring/refinishing a deck. I've looked at a few products and see a lo...

When I was a tween / teen in the early 90s my family didn't have cable but we took a lot of road trips. On every trip I would spend as MUCH TIME AS POSSIBLE in the hotel room to watch MTV and VH1. The video that represented the glory of music videos to me was "Black Hole Sun". Pauper of th...

Oh my goodness the memories. I probably only played... oof... five games? Ever? All when I was 11 or 12. But I remember every sculpt and every little piece of furniture. I'm not crying (I have no more weakness to purge), but my human half feels something. That does not happen every day. Pauper of th...

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/ULDwu2HLUrA/maxresdefault.jpg Terrific! But is that Blaine the Monorail (honest-to-god antagonist from the third book) or Charlie the Choo-Choo (fictitious evil spectre from the later books)? Man, what a great series. Pauper of the Surf / Jester of Tortuga

Speaking as a nerd for the books it looks legit. What do the non-initiates think and feel?

Glad to hear it's good. I always felt like Hollywood shafted Dev Patel by letting him be in The Last Airbender. He deserves all the accolades and success he can get after that disaster.
