Hurricane Irma

Yeah, other places had power that weren't too far from us (after a couple days at least). I spent a few days at my grandparents' house, and went with my mom to work a couple times since they had air conditioning and drinking fountains. We didn't get a generator. I think the storm's aftermath is when...

Hurricane Irma

I live in Gainesville, FL so I'll be impacted as well, but by the time the storm gets here it'll be weakened a lot, and we're above the flood plane. Still, even just a strong thunderstorm can knock down trees and boughs sometimes which can badly damage houses, and we're guaranteed to lose power for ...

Bojack Horseman

I watched this series over the course of a couple weeks sometime after the second season was released. I haven't yet started watching the third. It's got a good mix of pathos, moments of heart, clever but fairly straight-forward jokes, subversions of common jokes/tropes and just outright weirdness a...

Seth MacFarlane's Star Trek Spoof - The Orville

Yeah, I saw the original trailer and knew I wasn't interested even though Galaxy Quest is one of my favorite movies of all time. My impression was that it looked like MacFarlane’s usual fare (which I was never too huge a fan of) lazily dressed up in a Star Trek skin... but since Sepinwall's review i...

The Wire - s01e10 - The Cost

I think that the undercover cop's smirk and laugh combined with Orlando's apprehensive look at the end of the sting scene signals to the viewer that Orlando got played somehow, but yeah it's not completely clear what happened until the later scene. Some poor decision making was definitely made by th...

Overwatch is the only multiplayer game I play very often right now, mostly Quickplay and some Arcade though I may try making the move to ranked soon. My Blizzard Battle.Net tag is Tukka#1359. I'll probably get Destiny 2 when it launches for PC. My uid on Steam is Quinstol (https://steamcommunity.com...

I don't play multiplayer games on Steam very often, but my uid is Quinstol (https://steamcommunity.com/id/quinstol/) with the display name Tukka.

Fox picks up "Gotham" series about Batman's hometown

I haven't been keeping up with this show, but I enjoyed it pretty early on. I liked the look and feel of the setting a lot, and the Harvey Bullock character, but the story failed to keep me invested and I stopped watching at some point during the second season I think.

It seemed kind of odd to me that Bran would even care that much about Jon not being a bastard. Most nobles only seem to care about the legalities of the succession when it's convenient for them, and it's not like the army of the dead is going to bow before the rightful heir to the Iron Throne. I gue...

The Wire - s01e09 - Game Day

Omar is pretty much the only character on the show that isn't constrained in some way by rules imposed by an external order or system. McNulty and D'Angelo try to buck the rules of the organizations they operate under but they are still ultimately bound by them. So I think Omar is even kind of exemp...

I wonder if they were always working together or did it happen recently. There were a lot of scenes where they seemed to be bickering with no one was around but them, were they that good at putting up a front? I think the bickering and suspicion was real. I think it's intended to be ironic that Lit...

Morrowind Multiplayer

Interesting. Morrowind is a game that's pretty close to my heart, but I don't really have any desire to play it with other people. It's good to see progress is still being made on OpenMW though.

Mechanical Keyboards

I've had the same wireless keyboard for over 10 years. I've been seeing mechanical keyboards on Slickdeals and thought about updating, but I have a question, why don't these keyboards have number pads typically? I don't want to replace an old keyboard with a new one that is missing that. I believe ...

The question is why they didn't have arrows with dragonglass arrowheads. The first time I thought of this while watching the episode was when they ambushed the smaller party of wights. If they were able to get into melee range for a sneak attack it should've been even easier to snipe the Walker and ...

Yeah, I've been watching the episodes in time with these postings... though I would've remembered the elasticity line anyway, just not that it happened in this particular episode. I can recall the broad strokes of most of the scenes, major events and funny/notable lines, but it's a little jumbled in...

It's not just the passage of time that's problematic, lately the story has just been riddled with contrivance and cliche. The plan to capture a wight to show Cersei was really, really questionable in the first place. Dany is the one who really needed convincing, and if she trusted Jon enough to send...

I found Avon taking the night classes for macro-economics hilarious, but was it suppose to be seen as "woah, this guy is impressive"? It was even funnier when he immediately tried applying what he learned in the print shop. If he wants to run an legitimate business and not just a front, w...

"Lester, are we still cops?" In this episode we finally see clearly exactly why Burrell was so insistent about pursuing the case via buy-busts rather than trying anything more elaborate, regardless of how difficult a target Avon Barksdale has proven to be, and regardless of how much damage...

The Wire - s01e07 - One Arrest - 8/7/2017

A CSI guy told Bunk in an earlier episode that the casing he and McNulty recovered from Deidre Cresson's apartment was a ballistic match for a weapon used in two other homicides -- Taureen Boyd and Roland Leggett (murders which McNulty had earlier ascribed to the Barksdale gang). There was no mentio...
