Season 2 Finale: Valar Morghulis

Postby wags83 » Sat Jun 02, 2012 1:15 am

Last one of the season on Sunday. Really looking forward to seeing how they wrap up this season with all the different stories. No doubt there will be some sort of cliff hanger and I'll be going crazy until the next season.

They've got several story arcs to tie up. Hope they can do it in one episode.

Werd, it is 10 minutes longer than normal so that should help.

Wow! What did everyone think? I wish there would have been more time to tie things up a little more, but I'm sure I'd be left wanting more either way. Needless to say, next season is gonna be nuts. Apparently book 3 is going to be split into 2 seasons so hopefully we'll get a little more content from the books.

They definitely had elements from book 3 in the final episode. So in the next season they will be more based on the book rather than exactly following the book.

They've changed a few details and eliminated or condensed some of the storylines arcs. I am a little disappointed they didn't show the final resolution of Theon Greyjoys fall or Arya in Harrenhal. Arya was supposed to help the prisoners rebel.

Other than that, was a little disappointed that there were few battle scenes other than episode 9. I wonder if budget was an issue. Also character development could have been better. You are not going to care about any of the characters dying if you barely get a chance to know them.

Yeah I was hoping to get a bit more closure on the Theon storyline yet this season. I know budget had a lot to do with the battle scenes because they had to ask HBO for extra money just for the one battle they did show. I'd like to see one of Robb Stark's battles.

I think character development has been decent considering the time limit they have and the amount of characters there are. I'd like to get to know Gendry a bit more because I feel like his character is going to be important in the future.

Well if they are going to change the stories around, maybe they will come up with new material and perhaps give some people a happier ending than they got in the book.

Gendry doesn't really factor into books 3,4 and 5. There are also atleast 3 more of Roberts children floating about in the book.

Interesting...it just seemed like he would be more important the way they portray him. I just finished the 1st book and am starting the second. I'm hoping to start the 3rd one by the time the 3rd season rolls around.

Did not see it coming when John Snow killed his buddy. I thought it was a ploy to get swords in their hands and then fight to freedom.

I also didn't realize there were 3 dragons. I thought it was just 2.

That would kind of suck getting locked up in a safe...

3 blasts of the horn = zombies?!

Question. The series finale showed some kind of person/monster that killed a lot of people. And the creature John Snow saw take that guys baby boy. Were both of those things White Walkers?

Obviously the thing that attacked the wall guard post was a white walker.

Yes they both were. The white walkers are their own type of monster but if they kill a living thing, the victim becomes a snow zombie.

If you remember from season one they brought back the bodies of two dead rangers and they came back alive in the night and Jon killed them to save Mormont.

Gotcha.
So the creatures and zombies both go by the same name of White Walkers

In the book the zombie ones are called Whits. Not sure if they've said that in the show.
