Based on your review I would feel weird watching this at work, even on my tablet sitting in the corner.

That was an interesting pilot. I have no idea what's going on. Stuff looked cool and people talked smart! Oh...and a lot of dudes getting cut in half

Ready to have your mind blown?!
Mad Sweeney (the leprechaun) is pornstache from OitNB. Whaaat?! He never looked that physically threatening in that show.

I'm curious how the Vikings at the beginning will tie into the show.

That was bothering me and I had to look it up.

Watching the first episode now. I like it so far. Ian Mcshane is Odin so that's one way the Vikings at the beginning tie into it.

15 mins into 102. Shadow does not ask Mr Wednesday nearly enough questions. VR mob. Faceless goons. Lynching. The goons exploded. Smoking toad skin. Why didn't he question all of this?!

Pretty impressionable to begin with after his wife died with someones @#$@ in her mouth in a crash. Initially, he didn't care, then started to get slowly eased into the supernatural to the point where it seemed more real I guess. It escalated very quickly, but shadow seems like he just doesn't give af, to be honest.

So like "I have nothing to live for, I'm not going to question anything and roll with the punches". And if he was starting to believe in super natural he wouldn't be so obsessed with figuring out the coin tricks.

Unrelated, what is Ian McShane famous for? He's an actor people know the name of, but from what?

Double unrelated, stop looking at CPT! I know you're watching The Leftovers and that deserves your full attention. Don't worry, I paused American Gods to post this.

Had to pause to put kids to bed. He's from Deadwood, brief episode in GoT.

Yeah. I remember his 1 episode of GoT. I see he was in 36 episodes of Deadwood, but no one watched that show.

Orlando Jones was pretty intense at the beginning. Maybe every episode will start with a "historical" scene and show the different ways the gods rule? Last week was a god that required the vikings to kill each other in order to bring the wind. This week a god actually appeared to slaves and motivated them to kill their slavers.

Lucille Ball is the god of screens? Pretty surreal that she gave a monologue about culture obsessed with screens while I was watching a tv show and also posting on CPT at the same time.

I forgot that this show has the same show runner as Hannibal. This episode I kept thinking the music and extreme closeups reminded me so much of Hannibal. Well duh.

Bald Move guy was being pretty critical of the actor playing Shadow Moon. Said he doesn't have the charisma to keep up with Ian McShane. Thoughts?

It's just a quicker way to introduce some of the major gods, otherwise they could spend whole episodes for each. Orlando Jones was really well done. Also, very sad, because he's right :(

They definitely went with the artsy shots, especially the matches this episode. It wasn't quite the snail scenes from Hannibal S03, but it was noticable.

Shadow is fine. He's meant to be quiet, and not say much, just there for muscle right now. He was good in the 100. It's hard going against Ian McShane. He's one of the most charistmatic actors of this or any generation.
