Attack on Titan

Postby cwilkins88 » Mon Sep 29, 2014 7:25 am

This show has the craziest premise ever. Basically one day, giants appeared that were 15 feet tall. Their origins are unknown but they are basically hunting humans like cattle and eating them for pleasure, instead of for sustenance. They construct giant walls and the remaining world populating floods behind them, until one day, two new types of giants appear. One that is 50 foot tall, and one that is armored.

The armored bust through the walls and a lot of people die.

After that, one kid vows to destroy them all. He joins the scouts and they use these crazy multi-directional propel strings to swing around and kill them.

Anyway, I normally don't like anime but this show is very enjoyable. I watched 7 episodes back to back (20-25 mins). Has a 9/10 on imdb http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2560140/

I might check this out after I finish Beware the Batman. I like having a cartoon showed on deck for when I have 20 mins to lay in bed and watch something on the tablet.

This sounds like something DannyFanny would like.

I was recommended this by a group of 6th graders last year....I still have yet to check it out. I discovered Robotech my 6th grade year so I have no doubt they have an idea of what's good

I think there are better animes then this. I've watched the subtitled first season on netflix and now can't stand the voice dubbed on adult swim.

I probably wouldn't let my sixth grader watch this but then again most parents probably just think all cartoons are for kids.

It's very violent and very gory

I could see having a complete voice revamp making it super irritating. I heard some and thought they were bad and whiny, but for the most part, I'm okay with it. The voice acting is probably some of the better I've noticed for dubbed, but I haven't watched that many.

I'd probably be ok with the voices if I hadn't watched the subbed first

So this is dubbed to English? You aren't watching it in a different language and reading subtitles?

English subtitles you mean?

Adult swim streaming only has episodes after 11...nooooo!

Hulu has all of first season available. I'm going to sign up or a free week trial and watch the first 10 and finish in Adult Swim.

The subtitles are in English and the voices are in Japanese.

Watched the pilot tonight. It's really hard for me to get into the animation, but I stuck with it until the end. The ending was pretty intense and dramatic, enough so that I will watch another

It's been a few months since I have watched this, but if I remember correctly there are not a lot of filler episodes. A lot of animes have pointless episodes to take up space during a season. Or they have unnecessarily long, drawn out fighting episodes, like Dragon Ball Z...

Yeah, from what I've seen, there is almost no filler, and the fight scenes are pretty awesome. I loved the 9 episode arc just about the attack on Trost though. Was really cool. Levi gives more adrenaline to the show after he comes in too.

I've never watched any anime before (other than Animatrix last week), but my issue with the artwork was that some scenes had almost no animation but then during the fight sequence it was almost like CGI. Was weird.

Watched the second one for you cwilkins. I think it will pick up now since he's older and training. I like hearing about the history and the layout of the new world. I didn't realize they were living on the out most bubble. So that bubble got popped and the titans got into the outer ring?
