Black Mirror (modern take on Twilight Zone)

Postby Tyler » Fri Mar 27, 2015 6:54 am

Alex, saw in another thread you like Twilight Zone. You should check out Black Mirror. I haven't seen any of them, but guys on tech podcast rave about it being a modern Twilight Zone. 8.8 on IMDB. 7 episodes out, each one an hour

Looks like they are making a US Version in 2016

Black Mirror is a British television anthology series created by Charlie Brooker that features speculative fiction with dark and sometimes satirical themes that examine modern society, particularly with regard to the unanticipated consequences of new technologies

Black Mirror (modern take on Twilight Zone for awright)

Watched the first episode tonight. A princess is held hostage and the demand for her release is for the prime minister to have sex with a pig on national television...

The whole time I was waiting for some plot twist or aha moment like in Twilight Zone but it delivered much differently than I expected.

Watching the second episode now and it's quite different than the first.

For a futuristic society, the tech graphics sure do suck lol

I don't know how I feel about the show being an hour long but it's still good enough to keep your interest

Definitely a weird show. Meg and I watched the first 3 I think a few months ago but couldn't really get into it as it was super slow paced, especially the second episode.

Watched the first two episodes tonight.
First one was ok.
I liked the second one but would have ended it differently.

These could be shorter episodes and still adequately get the point and tone across to the viewer.

The third episode was pretty intense. Everyone has access to all of their memories through some chip in their brain. This leads to some major conflicts between a husband and wife.

First episode of the second season didn't do much for me.

Will finish out the season in the next few days though.

S1E2 is my favorite so far.

I finished the second season. I though the show was well done I'm sticking with my decision that s1e2 is my favorite.

Alex if you liked this show, you should check out fear itself.
Just started darknet. Similar to this but more of a horror aspect.

I'll be watching the second episode of the second season tonight and hopefully have the third done by the end of this week. Did you watch the Christmas special?

I agree on S2E1...it was cool seeing the bigger named actors (Haley Atwell and Domhnall Gleeson) but the story was meh. Thus far S1E2 has been my favorite too.

I'm not sure if I like this show or not but I'll check out Fear Itself anyways. It's just so damn depressing sometimes, from the opening music to the general tone of each episode. Twilight zone, while obviously different, also seems more lighthearted and casual to watch--that might be due to the fact it's super aged.

There's a christmas special? I just watched what Netflix had.

I don't think Fear Itself is done quite as well as this show but definitely has the same feel. Again it's more based towards the horror aspect. It has some big name directors doing various episodes along with some notable stars.

I'll agree with you on The Twilight Zone.

Netflix picked this show up for a full 12 episode season. It is still on my list to watch even though all of you hated it more than anything ever.
