Is there actually gold in the Hoffman's home state? If so, why would they go to Alaska/Canada first?

Not very much so far. I don't know why they left the Klondike after they had their best ever season.

He doesn't seem to make the best mining choices. Remember South America? It almost seams like they show wants him to fail for the pity vote and viewers, so we'll watch just too see how bad he'll strike out.

The show wouldn't be interesting if he knew what he was doing and never messed up

According to the previews for the rest of the season, it definitely gets worse for Todd before it gets better...if it gets better.

How is this season going? Let me guess... okay for Parker, but he is butting heads with Tony. Todd is crashing and burning.

Actually he and Tony worked out a deal that Parker likes. But yeah, Todd is not doing well.

What are the specifics of that? Parker makes it sound like he wants Tony dead most of the time.

After 3,000 ounces, the royalties that he needs to pay Tony go up to 25% so at the beginning of the season Parker told Tony that he wasn't going to mine an ounce over 3,000 unless Tony changed the royalty percentage because it's not profitable enough for him. Tony wouldn't change the percentage, but he allowed Parker to set up a 2nd operation at a nearby claim where he can basically start over at the lower royalty percentage. So, basically, Parker can mine up to 6,000 ounces without having to pay the ridiculous royalties because it would technically be treated as two 3,000 ounce operations.

How many ounces did Parker get last year? I think 2 years ago he was right at 1,000?

So after 3k ounces he has to move the wash plant to a new claim?

I think he got a little over 3K last year. He really trimmed down his team though this year because he wasn't planning on going balls to the wall.

He ended up opening ground at both claims and I think they're going to get a 2nd wash plant and mine at the same time. He has a sweet custom wash plant that he designed in the off season at his main claim. Not sure what they'll get for the 2nd claim. Rick is the mine boss at the 2nd claim and it looks like they had to hire a couple new people.

"Doesn't plan on going balls to the wall"
"has two plants running"

These are opposite.

I said he wasn't planning on it. Now he is because he won't have to give so much gold to Tony, that was the only reason he was restraining himself before.

Todd also has 2 plants but that's because they're not finding any gold at the original claim. His team gave him an ultimatum that if they don't get a certain amount of gold this coming week, they abandon the original claim because they aren't even getting enough to cover their running costs.

Tony's dredge is kicking ass every week and he's also trying to get the 2nd one that he bought all torn apart and moved.
