10 mins in and I got a WW vibe with the technicians waking up the dude, a lot like the techs working on the hosts. Not sure if this comparison will last longer than this scene though.

I'm sure they will explain it more, but it seems religious people are against sleeves and having yourself implanted after you die. How does one opt into the neck thing? Have to pay for it and those who are too poor or too religious just don't get one?

It sounds like everyone automatically has a "stack" but certain religious people opt out of being "spun up" into a new sleeve after they die.

This is correct. And a law was put into place to not violate religious beliefs. Police want it to be exempt if it's in the case against a murder so they can testify and tell who did it.

How does everyone automatically have one? When a baby is born do they implant it with one right away? I guess everyone that doesn't have one eventually dies off and only people left are those with it?

Shows like this make we wish we were watching scheduled TV together. I want to spend a week discussing every episode in detail before jumping into the next one. I have a lot to ask/comment on, but it will be hard for people to respond without spoiling since they have seen them all.

Watched #3 tonight. Zero-G fighting was very cool. I thought some of the fighting in the 2nd episode looked bad, but this episode fixed that.

I am really liking Poe, the hotel guy. I am confused how he is an AI, but can take on a physical form instantly and interact with the environment.

Show reminds me a lot of Black Mirror, especially with putting the criminal inside of the snake.

Same here. He's a fun character. But yes it's confusing because he appears instantly as if he's a hologram, but then is able to physically manipulate objects.

VR torture was really interesting stuff. I really liked how Tak talked his way out of being tied up so he could get his guns. I feel dumb for not connecting the dots on who was being harvested next to him in that room. It was the escort/stripper who he got intel from earlier.

We learned a little more about the stacks from Ortega bringing her grandma back. It is some kind of alien technology. I wonder if we will ever see aliens or go to other planets, or if they will do the Blade Runner thing and only talk about other places but all stories take place on earth.

I have mixed feelings about the Envoy flashback training scenes. Granted those scenes take place in the woods, but they feel so flat compared to the stuff in the present. The Envoy training stuff reminds me of CW's The 100 or some low budget SyFy movie. It doesn't help that one of the C characters in those scenes is from The 100 as well. I want to learn more about Takeshi's past and the war the Envoy's fought, but I don't need the love story mixed in with it.

Joel Kinnaman is starting to impress me as a leading man. He didn't stand out in Suicide Squad (only big thing I've seen him in) but he is really making an impression in this show. It certainly helps with how big of a physical presence he has in some scenes.

I like that the unicorn backpack is a character of the show now.

So Ortega knew the sleeve that Take is using. Ryker use to be a cop she worked with, maybe more than that. How in the world did a cop's body end up at a prison for criminals to use? I feel like that is a huge problem and they would not have allowed his body to be purposed like that.

Soo you think the flashbacks suck but episode 7 is an entirely flashback episode and probably the best one of the whole show. It's a treat.

Janelle couldn't get over the backpack.

First, they are showing you other planets, you must have missed that detail. Second, yes Oretega knew Ryker, and they explained what his body was doing in prison already, you must have missed it.

I believe that this is explained in the books... that at a certain age, they download the consciousness into a stack and is implanted into the sleeve. I want to say at 4. As in the beginning, you have a 7 year old girl given a 50 year old body because the family can't afford a proper sleeve.

They actually explain this in one of the episodes. I think it's at age 4 or 6, a stack is required to be implanted in everyone and your memories/etc are downloaded at that point. It would be too messed up to transplant a 3month old etc into a new body.

At the end of Episode 4, i think they've only alluded to it at that point. They do more backstory on why it happens, but the gist is that he went crazy and killed a cop.
