NBC Vows to Cut Primetime Ads by 20% Across All TV Networks

Postby Blue Jackets » Thu Mar 01, 2018 7:43 am

http://variety.com/2018/tv/news/nbcuniv ... 202712956/

he Comcast-backed media conglomerate, which operates NBC, Telemundo, USA, MSNBC and E!, among other TV networks, intends to cut the number of advertisements in its commercial pods during original primetime programming by 20% starting in the fourth quarter, and the amount of ad time during those primetime shows by 10%

Another one will allow the TV broadcast to stay on the air in some fashion while commercials or ad messages play in other parts of the screen.

Lol. So less commercials but longer ones? What will they show in that extra 10%? They can't going to make shows longer

Half hour show would get an extra 50 seconds roughly

Fox plans to reduce commercial breaks to 2 minutes per hour by 2020; down from current ad time of up to 16 minutes

If they don't specifically say the name of the product it's not usually that bad, unless it's Shameless showing off cars. Anytime a character drives away it zooms in on the car logo.

Someone watch and see how many times Sony is mentioned?
Does this mean it's the longest episode ever?

I imagine they will be mentioning Sony and Playstation throughout the episode. I think I still have my DVR set to record Family Guy, I'll have to check it out.

Watching now. 12 minutes in and it is terrible. No mentions of Sony, PlayStation, or God of War.

The entire episode was Stewie in a room talking to a child psychologist. It just went on and on and on and on and on and on. No cut scenes or anything that usually makes Family Guy funny. Just one long, never ending scene. It's like they said "Fine. You don't want commercials? Well we won't break up this episode at all!" And nothing was funny about it. They tried to squeeze in a few jokes but they mostly all fell flat or were hardly chuckle-worthy.
