Cobra Kai, a YouTube Red Original Series
In the highly-anticipated return of two iconic characters, the arch-rivals from the legendary Karate Kid film series reunite over 30 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament. Now living in the affluent hills of Encino, Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) leads an enviable life with his beautiful family, while running a successful string of car dealerships throughout the valley. Meanwhile, his high school adversary, Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), whose life has taken a rocky turn, seeks redemption by reopening the infamous Cobra Kai karate dojo. Their lives inevitably become intertwined and the rivalry is reignited, setting forth the next generation of “karate kids” in COBRA KAI, a YouTube Red Original Series. COBRA KAI is produced by Overbrook Entertainment in association with Sony Pictures Television.

I started watching this today during lunch. The acting is bad, but I kind of love it. I felt like an idiot watching it in the break room and grinning the whole time.

Finished ep2 yesterday over lunch, the show continues to be exactly what I want it to be. Worth checking out, even if you don't remember everything from the movie (like me). The show does flashbacks when it needs to so you understand character relationships.

How is he affording to keep this gym open? He doesn't work at all. How does he afford anything?

It takes a big man to admit when they are wrong. I'm proud of you.cwilkins88 wrote:I just finished episode 7. This show is really good.

I really hated how this series ended.

Man, I love this show. Only 2 episodes left.
Episode 8 was Johnny retelling his side of the first movie. I want to rewatch it through his eyes now. Johnny saw himself as the victim.

Big tournament with kids that have been training for years. 3 of the 4 finalist are kids that have been doing karate for 4-6 months. I wish they established more time and training had pass.
The fights during this tournament were way more physical than anything I was expecting. This was basically MMA.

Yeah, I don't like that him and Hawk turned dirty. It seems like Johnny regrets teaching them that, but with his old teacher back it might get even more dirty?cwilkins88 wrote:I really hated how this series ended.► Show Spoiler
I thought it was lame how Miguel almost lost one handed to Robbie.
So true about just talking to each other. The wife almost had that breakthrough. I do love how this is life or death for the guys and it's just a slight minor annoyance for her.

Are you guys going to stay out here and kill each other or do you want to come in for breakfast?

Love this show, maybe it's because I actually practice the same form of karate that they do in the movies/this show.

What dojo would you attend? The good guys or bad?ejhartman91 wrote:Love this show, maybe it's because I actually practice the same form of karate that they do in the movies/this show.

That's a good question. I'd probably go with Miyagi-Do because it's FREE, and my Dojo membership costs a lot more than that...
