Saw someone on Reddit say that Henry Cavill's Geralt would have made a really good Rhaegar Targaryen.

I think Geralt and Yennefer look awesome, but Ciri doesn't make sense. It's still fine though, and I'm going to watch the hell out of this.

I'll be honest. This doesn't do much for me, but I also know nothing about it.

I played a very tiny bit of one of the Witcher games, so I'm not attached to the franchise at all. But the genre/style of the show seems like something I would like. I'll watch at some point.

‘The Witcher’ Showrunner Says Netflix Series Will Never Adapt the Video Games

Netflix’s “The Witcher” is best known in the U.S. for the series of role playing video games by CD Projekt Red rather than the fantasy novels by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski that inspired the games. But if the show ever moves past the story laid out in the books like “Game of Thrones” did, Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich says fans should definitely not expect it to mine the games for material.

“Extreme long vision is no, we will not start adapting the games,” Hissrich told TheWrap during a press round table at San Diego Comic-Con 2019. “I can only attack one season at a time, I’m so excited for this one, the rest kind of makes my mind explode right now. If someone says ‘what happens in Season 7,’ sure I have thoughts. Fingers crossed, we get there.”

As a non-book reader or game player, this seems funny to me. I assume people are mostly excited about this show because of the games, not because of the books. However, showrunner wants people to know the show is based on the books, NOT the game...that is also based on the books. Shouldn't matter in the end, just odd it was brought up at all.

That is way sooner than I was expecting. Seems like Cavil was just announced.

*Laughs in Netflix*

They cancel everything before 7 seasons.

I was going to make a very similar joke.

This show seems pretty expensive too, so no way 7 seasons will happen.

I'm all for GoT hate, but I think this title is even taking that too far. Has anyone ever complained about GoT fight sequences? I've always thought they were gritty and real. Headlines like this are just capitalizing on people still disliking GoT because of a STORY reason - it had nothing to do with fighting.

It's possible Witcher uses more fantasy elements to the fighting so it looks different for that reason.
