I noticed today we are at 90,400. Not sure when the 90k actually happened, but let's just assume first of the year - which means about 6 posts a day on the forum.

0-10,000: 55 days (due to migrating old forum)
10,000-20,000: 750 days
20,000-30,000: 333 days
30,000-40,000: 338 days
40,000-50,000: 221 days
50,000-60,000: 222 days
60,000-70,000: 252 days
70,000-80,000: 375 days
80,000-90,000: 662 days



Things have definitely slowed down and it's probably not worth my $150 a month to keep hosting, but I'll never stop (for now).

Is it seriously that much to host?
I was thinking a discord server might be a good option if you ever do decide to stop.

It's $12 a month for hosting and I think another $12/year for the domain.

Discord is a good option and I've thought about it. The only thing really holding me back is just how forums operate vs a discord. I imagine the Discord would have a few channels (chats?, idk what they are called). Movies, tv, off topic. So if you talk about a specific movie it would be buried in the chat and wouldnt be found again since Discord is more instant messaging vs going back and adding to old threads like you easily can on a forum.

Basically discord would turn into a giant group chat with all of us, which would also be fun.

Yeah I've thought about those logistics also.
There is a search function, but I can never navigate it smoothly. You can create channels and sub channels to keep chats focused on certain topics.
They added a reply function so you can link to the comment you are replying to.

So yeah it would basically a large group chat with sub-divided channels.
I think a big feature that would be fun is the streaming to discord and doing a movie night. One person streams a movie to discord and we can watch it while BSing in the text chat.

That might be fun. VR has some great tools for that...when it works, but of course not everyone has VR.
