The Avengers

Postby Tyler » Mon Apr 30, 2012 12:31 pm

For those of you living under a rock, it comes out this Friday.
Critics currently have it at a 97% on RT ( http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/marvels_the_avengers/ )
That is insane!

Here is a recap of the other Marvel movies.
critics/audience
Hulk (Edward Norton one): 66/75
Iron Man 1: 94/91
Iron Man 2: 74/80
Thor: 77/80
Captain America: 79/75

I pretty much agree with all those. First Iron Man was by far my favorite.

AMC theater up here is having an all day event on Thursday where they are showing all of the Marvel movies back to back. Unfortunately, I can't go but Dan might. I'm hoping to catch it sometime this weekend.

Was the Ed Norton Hulk supposed to be part of this? I know the Hulk is in the Avengers but it's a different actor so I don't know if there's a connection between the films.

That's what I was curious about as well. Did Sam Jackson make an appearance at the end of the Ed Norton Hulk movie?

Correct Danny.

This is what Edward Norton had to say
"As most of you know, I don't like to talk much about the business of making movies because it means a lot to me to protect the audience's fullest enjoyment of the 'magic' that films can have," wrote Norton. "But I am so appreciative of the outpouring of support from fans of the Hulk and the Avengers that I feel it would be rude not to respond."

"So here goes: It seems it won't work out for me to continue playing Bruce Banner for Marvel in 'The Avengers,'" he continued. "I sincerely hoped it could happen and be great for everyone, but it hasn't turned out as we all hoped. I know this is disappointing to many people and that makes me sad. But I am very sincerely grateful to Marvel for extending the offer and even more so for giving me the chance to be a par of the Hulk's long and excellent history."

"And I really can't thank the fans enough for how much enthusiasm you've sent my way about what Louis and I tried to do in our turn with the legend," Norton added. "It means a lot to me. I grew up with Banner and Hulk and have been a fan of every incarnation. I'm really proud, and very blessed, to have been one of them and will be thrilled to see him live on through other actors."

So it's clear his Hulk movie was intended to be apart of the Avengers movie.

I heard that (from you probably). But refuse to believe it.

Movie is also all the way down to a 93% now. Hardly worth seeing now.

Going tonight to a 3D showing. The previous 3D i went to was the last harry potter movie and wasn't that impressed. I like the movie but the 3D made the whole film pretty dark.

The 3D in this movie won't be good. They decided mid-production to make it a 3D movie. Only time 3D works is when they originally shoot it with the intent to make it 3D (like Avatar did).

I may end up seeing this tomorrow. Haven't seen a movie in St. Cloud in probably 2 years.

Not worth paying the extra money for 3D on this one but I loved the movie. Many points throughout where the whole theater was laughing. Great way to kick off the summer movie season.

My friends Kristi and Christina are in Costa Rica right now, and they said The Avengers has been there for over a week now! Not fair :( And their movies cost $3. Seriously.

Just got back. It was pretty great. Some thoughts:

Stark and Banner should have their own movie together. I love those two characters together.

Stark is as witty as ever.

Black Widow/Hawkeye really can't compete with the other Avengers.

Hulk was awesome. Question though, why was he all of a sudden able to control The Hulk at the end?

Some pretty hilarious parts I thought.

I loved whenever all the Avengers were working together.

Awesome, awesome movie.
I agree with everyone in saying that the Hulk was way awesome. I think I like Mark Ruffalo better than Ed Norton in the role. It did kinda make it confusing though that Banner was able to control the Hulk when earlier in the movie he was trying to kill everyone on the ship. Can't wait until the sequel. Did everyone stay through the credits?

I think Ruffalo played it pretty good because he was nerdy and nervous all the time. Norton was almost too badass, this Banner seemed to fit better. But again, I wish they explained how he could control the Hulk at the end.

Huge lolz at Stark always trying to get him to Hulk out even though it would be bad for everyone. Couldn't get enough Banner and Stark together.
