World War Z 2

It was confirmed awhile ago that this movie was going to be happening but it was just announced that Brad Pitt will be the lead again.

Whew! The movie would not have been nearly as good without him. I'm a biased Brad Pitt fan but usually a sequel with different characters falls flat.

Interesting where they will take the story since the first one ended with a cure

I just learned about this from a radio show this morning and was wondering the same thing. Not sure what the story will be.

‘World War Z 2’ & ‘Friday The 13th’ Pulled Off Paramount’s Schedule

as we long expected, World War Z 2 is not happening on June 9. A director has been unset for sometime for the Skydance co-production; Juan Antonio Bayona left the project a year ago. David Fincher was reportedly in talks at one point over the summer, but nothing solidified.

The world would be okay without a sequel to WWZ

Hopefully this movie stays in sequel limbo forever.

Sorry for your loss.

This doesn't seem like a David Fincher movie, but I'll be interested to see what he does with it. Just for fun, here are other Fincher/Pitt movies:
Se7en - 1995
Fight Club - 1999
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - 2008

This directing style seems like an incredibly weird take on this movie. For instance, the movies you named don't suck, and WWZ does.

Haha, WWZ was an okay movie. The issue I, and everyone else had, was the title. The movie had nothing to do with the book, other than they shared the same title.

I lost any positive opinions about it when a thousand zombies parkoured themselves to take down a helicopter.

Paramount Pulls The Plug On David Fincher's 'World War Z' Sequel
Budget, as is usually the case, was definitely an issue, but only to a degree. Fincher and his team were proposing something less than the budget of the original ($190 million according to Box Office Mojo, before the costly reshoots). However, Paramount’s known about this figure since at least last year and had hemmed and hawed about the project for months. One might think it not entirely coincidental that Paramount, that makes far fewer films than the average studio, just allotted a lot of money for two significant blockbusters—”Mission Impossible 7” & ‘8‘ that will arrive in the summer of 2021 and 2022, and just landed official release dates.
