Lol. I could see either of those characters calling the other a copy cat.

Spoilers. So the entire cast isn't killed in GotG2? Or they are and GotG3 is a sequel prequel.

It was so awesome, I did a lot of laughing. Also 5 scenes in the credits.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Vol 2 was hilarious, tons of fun, and had a lot of heart. However, I think I need to give #1 the win because it was such a fresh and new movie. No one in 2014 went into GotG expecting such a fun and hysterical movie. With Vol 2 I knew what I was going to get, and I loved every bit of it.

Now my disjointed thoughts:

"I am Mary Poppins y'all!!!"
"He was your father, but he wasn't your daddy"
Yondu had some great lines and character development. He also murdered soooo many people with that arrow. Brutal.
People are calling his death the first one in the MCU that feels "earned"

*Mantis gets hit by a piece of a the ship and knocked out* "Look out!"
Drax is probably the funniest character in the movie. Almost every line he had was gold.
"You're beautiful... on the inside"
We also learned why he doesn't wear shirts, his nipples are too sensitive

I can't wait for Vin Diesel to win his Oscar for voicing baby Groot. You couldn't help but feel bad for him when he was being tortured and bullied.

Star-Lord immediately trying to kill his dad when he learns his mother's tumor was planted by him. Dang....
I thought Ego was a cool villain, but it still wasn't very interesting for me. He has been a god for millions of years and Peter is able to beat him because his powers come from his heart, not his head? That's dumb.
Now that I think about it, all of the other stories in the movie were more better than Star-Lord's
-Gamora and her sister working things out and discussing their horrible childhood
-Groot being adorable and cutting off toes
-Drax and Mantis learning about each other. When Mantis touched Drax and felt the pain of his family dying and started bawling
-Rocket and Yondu teaming up and realizing they are a lot a like
-Revealing Yondu was only ever trying to protect Quill

Baby Groot dancing in the opening sequence was a great way to start the movie.

Goldblum was somewhere in the credits and I missed it. I thought the 5 scenes were funny, especially teenage Groot. I was expecting more MCU tie ins though.

I just want to type all the funny jokes and laugh again.

Star-Lord didn't beat him because his power comes from the heart... he was able to tap into the light by using his heart and not his head... um, same as Magneto in First Class able to harness his power from happiness over anger... and he didn't defeat Ego, he was able to distract him long enough to Groot was able to do what he needed to do. It was a team effort.

I would say that arguably the Guardians of the Galaxy movies are #1 and #1a in the list of Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. Where Iron Man was amazing for its time because it was finally a great Marvel comic book movie, if you go back to watch it now, its great but doesn't hold up against Guardians of the Galaxy.

Kayla and I watched this yesterday. It was a good movie, but several parts felt very... forced. The crude jokes that were just thrown out there because they were crude...

It did turn out to be a huge focus on Baby Groot for a lot of humor. But I'm fine with that. He was cute.

I agree some of the crude jokes were forced, but that somehow didn't bother me. I was there to laugh so I was able to look past conversions happening just so a one liner could be thrown in at the end.

Is teenage Groot confirmed for Vol 3? I thought it was interesting that Star-Lord could understand him. Isn't rocket the only one who can translate during the movie?
