Stephen King's It remake

Postby Fawlty » Fri Apr 07, 2017 8:33 am

Not to interrupt the important discussion about Clown's Rights, but has anyone else here read the Dark Tower series? If yes, is anyone hoping that they'll somehow work some pre-emptive "hooks" for the Dark Tower into It? The books overlapped in a few key areas so they could do it simply by including some stranger parts of the source material (I'm specifically thinking about the whole "turtle" bit).

It might come down to production houses- are It and the Dark Tower even being produced by the same company? I am too busy / lazy to check myself right now.

Anybody with me, or am I the only person who signed over months of his youth to the Dark Tower?

I haven't read the books, but I can at least check on this for you...

IT (2017)
KatzSmith Productions
Lin Pictures
New Line Cinema
New Line Cinema (presents)
Vertigo Entertainment

The Dark Tower (2017)
Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE)
Media Rights Capital (MRC)
Imagine Entertainment
Weed Road Pictures

So no, they share none of them.

Did you ruin my day? Yes. But you did it with a good heart. So take comfort in that.

Oh no, all these clowns are going to have to learn a real, marketable skill.

I believe they look similar because they are brothers... both Skaarsgard.

Are you guys actually going to watch this? I remember watching IT with my dad when I stayed home from school one day in kindergarten and it's honestly made me who I am today - totally F'd up.

I plan on watching this. I maybe going to see it alone in the theater though. It looks really good.

Heck no. I haven't seen a horror movie in theaters for like a decade*. I don't even like watching them at home with the rare exception.

*Not counting Cabin in the Woods as a horror movie.

I think this looks good actually. Not sure I'll see in theaters because I rarely see things in theaters anymore, but I'll for sure see it at some point.

I have almost no desire to see this, but Kathryn wants to for some reason. Either $5 movie or Redbox

I guess this thread title isn't accurate if King wasn't involved at all?

Stephen King says he wasn't asked to be involved in the making of IT at all

At the Alamo Drafthouse’s clown-only screening of Stephen King’s It, you’ll float too

“For this special screening of It, all attendees should arrive dressed as a clown in order to attend. Please arrive early and join us in the Barrel O' Fun beginning at 5:30pm for an It pre-party where we will have face-painters available for clown "touch-ups", a photo booth, raffles for prizes, and other terrifying merriment. Please arrive in your own Pennywise best and be ready to float with us.”
