I guess I didn't specify the release of the trailer. They did keep it a secret and until the trailer was out no one knew it was a Cloverfield film.

World's easiest marketing job? No posters, no build up. Just a 30 second trailer and done.

Makes a lot of sense to me that they renamed it. No one who saw the trailer would know "God Particle" is a direct tie in to Cloverfield.

I assume we will see this with every movie in this franchise. A working title and real name revealed when first trailer releases.

I liked this movie. I think critics are unfairly ripping it apart. It's basically just any space horror movie, but with its only little twists. There was really only one part that made no sense to me (magnets), and I got over that pretty fast.

I liked the rest of it, and thought it was entertaining enough. It's no 10 Cloverfield Lane, but it was a good movie.

Are critics hard on it because of the same reason they didn't like Bright? Netflix is ruining the movie industry!

Sources: Netflix Paid Paramount More Than $50 Million for 'Cloverfield Paradox'
Budget of movie was $45m and nothing was spent on marketing.

Assuming $10 a ticket, they "made" $50m on the movie, they broke even during the first week.

However, Netflix doesn't work like that so I have no idea how they track the profitability of something like this.

Netflix has a really weird business model. And they must have some incredibly complex algorithm to figure out what is worth buying/playing/keeping or getting rid of.

I watched this last night. It was fine. Pretty predictable but entertaining enough.
