Werd. I think I mentioned in my initial post, but Finn's entire story line in this movie was worthless.

I agreed with Kevin Smith for the most part, the movie does seem like one giant middle finger to JJ Abrahms.

I believe its one of the major issues with this movie... JJ told you to care about Rey's parents... but they nobody and are done away with in a throw away line... JJ told you to care about Supreme Leader Snoke... he was killed off without a fight... JJ made you believe Finn was a force user... nope, he's half way around the galaxy at a casino doing nothing to help. JJ left you with a sense of hope as Rey meets Luke... HA! Luke hates you and couldn't care less about you.

I'm not totally convinced that they are done away with. I think it's possible that Kylo was just telling Rey things to get her to join him.

I think the same wags, but it's also kind of cool if the force can be with people who come from nothing, just like the broom Jedi

We already know this is true. Anakin Skywalker was born a slave.

Its been theorized that Darth Sidious/Chancellor Palpatine was telling Anakin who his father was during the opera in Revenge of the Sith, when he tells the story of Darth Plagious the wise who was able to manipulate midichlorians to create life. I'm sure its been dispelled in a book that no one has read.

Books are no longer cannon tho. When Disney bought Lucas they said books are no longer part of the Star Wars story

Actually, I believe a portion still are. You can correct me if I'm wrong, I believe before the point of Return of the Jedi, those books are cannon, still. Books beyond Return of the Jedi have been deemed null and void so that Disney would have full range of motion going forward and not constrained to the narrative that was laid out in other books. Especially in an extended universe where Chewbacca was killed off. The books before Return of the Jedi are tied in with the previous movies and were written with Lucasfilm's tight grip.
