Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

Postby Blue Jackets » Fri Mar 24, 2017 6:43 am

a darkly comic drama from Academy Award winner Martin McDonagh (In Bruges). After months have passed without a culprit in her daughter's murder case, Mildred Hayes (Academy Award winner Frances McDormand) makes a bold move, painting three signs leading into her town with a controversial message directed at William Willoughby (Academy Award nominee Woody Harrelson), the town's revered chief of police. When his second-in-command Officer Dixon (Sam Rockwell), an immature mother's boy with a penchant for violence, gets involved, the battle between Mildred and Ebbing's law enforcement is only exacerbated.

I was excited to see this tomorrow after I left work early, but I just noticed it is a limited release. The big theater here isn't showing it and neither is the artsy fartsy theater.

I might build shelves instead. I don't see a movie I want to see that Jocelyn doesn't.

I thought this movie was extremely well done and had some very memorable scenes. It was a lot different than I thought it would be, but in a good way. Quite a bit of humor in the movie too. My parents mostly liked it but strongly disliked the ending.

The acting in this movie was phenomenal.
Frances McDormand deserves an Oscar nomination at least if not a win.

Caleb Landry Jones is having an insane year. Crazy brother in Get Out and crazy brother in American Made. Marketing guy in this movie. He was also in The Florida Project and Twin Peaks.

Sam Rockwell always impresses me too. I'm use to him playing the funny role but there was a lot of seriousness to his character in this. Quite the character arc.

Woody Harrelson's character was also great. You thought he would be the bad guy based on the trailer but he really did try to solve the crime. I loved that he paid for the extra month just to mess with her.

Mac's mom from IASIP playing the exact same character as she does in that show.

Kathryn and I watched this yesterday. It was very good. there were a lot of guffaw scenes. I can't imagine the dentist scene in theaters. I literally screamed at that part. Very unexpected!!!!!

Great movie!

I thought that this was based off of a real story. It seems very plausible, but it's not even based on a true story! Could definitely see something like this happening. Not sure if that means anything...
