Ice Age franchise

Postby Tyler » Tue Mar 28, 2017 12:33 pm

We watched the first 2002 movie a couple weeks ago. Evie seemed to like it (as if her opinion matters). This movie is 15 years old, daaaaaang. The animation is comparable to a Disney/Nick animated TV show, but holds up for the most part. I noticed when the animals walked the ground usually didn't change at all, unless they were on thick snow.

The movie is only 80 minutes. That is unheard of now, even for a kids movie. I think there are 5 Ice Age movies now? We will slowly watch them all. The first one is cute and funny. A lot of similarities with it and the Pixar Dinosaur movie from 2 years ago.

I think I enjoyed the first Ice Age movie. Not sure I've seen any of the others. I think there's a dumb one where a girl mammoth thinks she's a squirrel or something.

The day my grandmother died I spent the evening with my mom and we watched the first Ice Age to try and help her feel better. Yeah. A mother straight DIES in the opening minutes.

Classic.

You don't know that! She was alive when she gave the animals her baby and she could have peacefully floated down the river and made a full recovery.

Evie and I watched 4 and 5 this weekend. They are terrible. In the 4th one Scratch (the squirrel thing) causes the continents to break up and drift away when he falls into the center of the earth and starts spinning around. In the 5th one he finds a UFO and creates the solar system with it and sends a meteor towards earth.

"Once-Dominant" seems awfully generous. At the end of the article it says this:
Blue Sky’s top-grossing animation features at the worldwide box office were Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (’09, $886M), Ice Age: Continental Drift (’12, $877M), Ice Age: Meltdown (’06, $660M), Rio 2 (’14, $500M), Rio (’11, $484M), Ice Age: Collision Course (’16, $408M), Ice Age (’02, $383M), Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who! (’08, $297M), Ferdinand (’17, $296M), Epic (’13, $268M), Robots (’05, $260M), The Peanuts Movie (’15, $246M) and Spies in Disguise (’19, $171M).

I have seen Ice Age and maybe one of the Ice Age sequels. None of the other movies.

Show them to JJ. Kids still like them. It's been a few years, but Evie has seen them all.
