MoviePass - $9.95/month for unlimited theater movies

Now $29.99 a quarter fornew customers and only 4 movies a month. Still a massive discount over regular prices. No way this is as big a negative as Reddit makes it sound like.

Obviously is going to keep getting worse until it's gone under

$30 a quarter is still cheaper than what I am paying for. 4 movies a month is what I would do at the absolute high end. I'm closer to 2. People like Corey and crckrjack would probably go over that tho

4 is probably around how many I see per month. We try to go to 1 per week. But there are times I would go over that.

I would say between Kathryn and I we go to 4-6 a month.

“MoviePass currently spends more to retain a subscriber than the revenue derived from that subscriber and MoviePass other sources of revenue are currently inadequate to offset or exceed the costs of subscriber retention,” the filing reads. “This results in a negative gross profit margin. MoviePass expects its negative gross profit margin to remain significant until MoviePass can sufficiently increase its other sources of revenues to offset the losses or achieve substantial economies of scale.”

That doesn't sound good. But that's also exactly what we were all saying/worried about when they first started the $10/month deal.

This is also why AMC hated it at first. No way Movie Pass can stick around, and when they are gone the theaters are afraid the service will have devalued the movie going experience.
"I'm not paying $10 to see a single movie when I was paying $10 to see all the movies I wanted. Theaters are a rip off. I'm going to wait and rent it"

If movie pass had come in at $19.99/month would you all have still done it? Or even considered it? Or if they had said 3 movies a month at the start for the $9.99?

$20 is tough. I would need to see 3 movies a month to get my money worth since I usually get early bird pricing.

I was rarely going to movies prior to having Moviepass, so I would probably go back to that.
