There are FIVE Home Alone movies. Evie watched them all over break
1: Classic. Nearly a perfect movie except for the lack of sympathy from his parents and family when they return to their house after leaving Kevin.
2: Another great one, once again the only flaw his how his parents react to it all
3: I didn't watch this one with Evie, but I remember it has a new kid and new villains. Scar-Jo's first movie?
4: Horrible The kid is suppose to be Kevin and the recast bad guy is suppose to be Marv still. Easily the worst of the bunch
5: Also really bad, but at least they didn't try to make the kid be Kevin again. Movie doesn't actually have "5" in the title. Home Alone Holiday Heist

Evie is watching 4 again
We are locked in the basement by robbers. What can we do?
10 mins later...
I do have a cell phone I guess.
But only enough for 1 charge.
Better call my mom and not the police

Evie's school has been doing stuff for Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory. Reading the book. The school is hiding tickets around town. I'm showing Evie the original movie, she had no idea there were movies.
Gene Wilder and the factory don't show up until 43 minutes!

35 minute mark in the 2005 movie for them to arrive at the chocolate factory.

John Cena's 2019 hit Playing with Fire
When straight-laced fire superintendent Jake Carson (John Cena) and his elite team of expert firefighters (Keegan-Michael Key, John Leguizamo and Tyler Mane) come to the rescue of three siblings (Brianna Hildebrand, Christian Convery and Finley Rose Slater) in the path of an encroaching wildfire, they quickly realize that no amount of training could prepare them for their most challenging job yet -- babysitters. Unable to locate the children's parents, the firefighters have their lives, jobs and even their fire depot turned upside down and quickly learn that kids -- much like fires -- are wild and unpredictable.
This was not good. 21% critics. 71% audience somehow. Barely held Evie's attention.

Sorry for your loss. Marshall has been very into Shrek lately. I had not seen 3 or 4 until recently.

I didn't see 3 and 4 until Evie stumped into them years ago either. I probably couldn't tell you any story beats.
What Shrek has the princesses singing Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin?

Zombies has better music than High School Musical. I hope Zombies 3 gets a theatrical release like HSM3 did.

Willoughbys on Netflix. Based on a book.
I dont think it is deserving of the 89% on RT, but it was a cute movie. Animation took a bit to get used to. Because of the style it seemed like 12 FPS. Was a good way to spend the afternoon with the fam.

John Favreau's Zathura. AKA Space Jumanji from 2005
Josh Hutcherson, Dax Shepard, Kristin Stewart
Evie and I really enjoyed this one. There was a little bit too much brother fighting drama, but otherwise I thought it was a very enjoyable family movie. A lot of bit over Evie's head at times, but I thought it was fun. Fun watching some of these kids just before they blew up big.

My kids watch this a lot, they got into the Jumanji/Zathura stage about six months ago, and just recently rewatched again like...2-3 days ago.

I thought about watching the original Jumanji next, but I think that might be too scary? Parts of Zathura were a little spooky and I would say Jumanji is way scarier for a kid.

It's a little scary at first. Especially the plants (at least originally)
Re: Kids movies that don't need their own thread
We started Jumanji. Evie asked to turn it off when the giant mosquito was trying to get inside of the car. Got too spooky at that *point* for her.
