Paddington 2

100% with 149 critics. Highest rated family movie on RT I think I saw.

We are going today. It will be Evie's first live action movie in theaters, not sure if she will be able to sit through it all. It took 2 sessions for her and Jocelyn to watch the first one earlier this week.

This may be the perfect family movie.
The first one was good, but it was scary for some kids. Nichole Kidman was trying to catch Paddington so she could kill him and stuff him. There was some spooky scenes of that.

Hugh Grant is in the villain in this one and nothing is life or death (except for one part, but it wasn't scary). This movie has so much charm and everyone involved seems to be having so much fun. Hugh Grant is notoriously a tough person to work with and he gets to poke fun at this, much like Norton did in Birdman.

My favorite part of the first one and this one was how much it reminded me of a Wes Anderson movie with the visuals and colors. They do a lot of cross section scenes for buildings and there was a really cool effect with a popup book. Seeing the prison turn pink and bright screamed The Grand Budapest Hotel.

If you have kids you should totally see this at home. If you have MoviePass you should see it as an adult in theaters. If you are a cheap you still need to see it when it comes out on rental.

The first movie was really good, but this one is even better. This was the first live action movie to hold Evie's attention the whole time, and it was pushing 2 hours.

‘Paddington 2’ is the Fourth Film to Score 100% on Rotten Tomatoes With Over 100 Reviews

The sequel to the utterly enchanting 2015 family film is sitting pretty with 196 positive, or “Fresh,” reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. This distinction makes Paddington 2 the first critically acclaimed film of 2018, and also the second family film in history to remain at 100% with over 100 reviews and the fourth film currently at 100% with that many reviews. The first film to hold the title was 1999’s Toy Story 2, another sequel. The only other films to have a 100% rating with over 100 reviews are 2008’s Man on Wire (157 reviews) and 2016’s Things to Come (130 reviews).

Paddington 2 has slightly more reviews than Toy Story 2 as well. I think that makes it the highest rated movie on RT ever.

There's a reason it's #1 on my 2018 list!

It's because it's the only movie I've seen.

Do I have to see the first movie to understand this one?

No, but you will enjoy it more if you do for sure.

Watched part of this today. It's so cute and good. I need to move it up again in my movie ranks. I love the West Anderson like elements.

Paddington 2 has maintained a solid 100% on RT with 200 reviews, compared to the horrible score of the first movie that is all the way down to 98%

Paddington 2 came out this year. This year is so long.

Sad that it won't get any attention because it came out in January and not November/December. It's such a cute movie.

I believe it was former Cracked writer and current Last Week Tonight writer, Dan O'brien, where I first heard this suggestion. Oscars take place five years after they year they are awarding. 2018 Oscars take place in 2023. This allows the movies to be viewed, then reviewed.
Here we go. It took a little bit but here's the podcast
