I will watch this when it comes out, but I feel like I probably won't understand half the crap in it...mostly because I'm not an 8th grade girl growing up in the digital age.

Lies. You'll identify with it the most out of anyone here. I'm excited to watch this from home.

Saw this last week by myself on my day off. Painfully relatable except for social media at that age. I was shy and anxious in middle school, so it gave me the feels. She was much more ballsy than I was though! I agree that it captures the stuff kids have to deal with these days. Even had them go through a school shooting drill just like it was one of our annoying fire drills back in the day.

Bo is showing the movie free tomorrow night in every state. He is doing it as a way to not enforce the rated R rating so younger people can see it.

“LIKE THE BREAKFAST CLUB BEFORE IT, EIGHTH GRADE HAS A RATING THAT MAY SEEM TOO MATURE FOR KIDS — BUT IT’S EXACTLY WHAT THEY NEED TO SEE RIGHT NOW AS THEY FIGURE OUT THEIR PLACE IN THE WORLD.”

That's cool, but not how movies work? It is not illegal to allow minors into R rated movies, it is up to the theater to choose how to enforce it.

We watched tonight. It was really charming and seemed painfully real. Not sure why it's rated R, I only caught the F word once. Maybe the banana

This is a great movie for 2018, but I fear it will age poorly because of the references and technology used. Bo talked about this in an interview and he said he isn't concerned about this, at worse it's a time capsule just like in the movie.

The car scene was so intense. I'm glad she stood up for herself.

I've been thinking about this film all weekend. This is the Lady Bird of 2018, but I think it's a better movie. I can't get over how the lead in this felt like a real kid with all the "umms" "likes" and "blahs". It felt like she was doing that unprompted, but Bo said every one was written in.

Great protrayal of actual kids.
