I always get a kick out of those comparisons and seeing how shots changed.
I've never seen the '89 movie, but I never understood how it is scary. I know almost nothing about the movie, but I just picture the scariest thing is a puppet dead pet or something.

Honestly, the first one isn't that scary. The premise is that there is an old Native American land that has become tainted/cursed, where kids would go to bury their dead pets. Some how they came back to life. Then father's who could not handle the loss of their child, tried burying their child there. It did not end well. The creepy part of the first one was the guy who play Herman Munster on the Munsters, plays a neighbor who warns the family of the Pet Sematary. One question I always had was... if Herman never tells the Dad of the Sematary, would there be a need for the movie?

I've only seen the Southpark episode but not the original movie.
I do remember someone in maybe 3rd grade saying they saw the original and it was the scariest movie they had ever seen. So, if a 3rd grader thinks it's super scary, it's probably super scary.

I watched the original tonight. I agree with Hayes. The movie isn't really scary. Worst part is the scene with neighbor. The final "battle" is pretty hilarious now. I remember this movie being a lot scarier when I was younger. Hayes' question is valid. My question is do resurrected people gain super strength, they must because a toddler somehow jumped into an attic with his mother's dead body.
