Got $15 off my bill for DirecTV. It's a start. Will call again next month to see what they can do.

As for the Chromecast. Cool little device. I guess I forgot that you don't install any apps on it, and it just plays things you "cast" to it from phone or computer.

I got the Plex app on my phone, tablet, and computer. All work well for casting to the tv.
Corey, if you go from PC to Chromecast use the http://plex.tv/web/app link. Doesn't work if you go to it from the tray icon.

I ordered another Chromecast for $25 through Groupon. Every TV in my house (3) can now do Plex/Netflix, etc.

After college football season I am going to call DirecTV again and see how much it will cost to cancel. I changed my plan to the $70/month one but its gone back up to $80.

After an hour and 15+ text messages I was able to share Plex with my mother in law. I think they just have a crappy laptop plugged into a tv with no wireless mouse/keyboard so it's a pretty crappy setup. Maybe will get them a set top box for Christmas if they like Plex enough.

Hopefully everyone ordered one who wanted it. The preorders are shipped Nov 27, but if you order now you will likely not get it until after Christmas they are backordered so badly.

Plus it has Amazon Video.

Why don't you get Plex on your streaming stick? I think when you use my Plex you're always on your phone

Almost never on my phone. I use it on my surface mostly. Roku does have plex app I just haven't set it up yet. Also roku has amazon video which we don't use either.

Ah gotcha, so the sticks are essentially the same thing, other than Fire stick having better specs

Mine just got shipped! Will be here Thursday! Wasn't suppose to get here until Dec 2nd, I figured they would get ahead of the demand.

I know cwilikins, Corey and Storm have been having some issues with their Fire Sticks. Are you having the same kind of problems? What's not working? Is our $20 wonder stuck flawed?

Plex forum discusses it:
https://forums.plex.tv/index.php/topic/ ... -tv-stick/ You may not actually be able to read this since you aren't Ples Pass?

Then there is this reddit post where everyone is praising it

Almost everything I watch will stutter for a couple seconds at least every half hour. Not a big deal but enough for me to stick with my normal Fire TV in the living room. I am keeping a Fire Stick for the bedroom though as that doesn't get used as often. I think the Fire Stick just doesn't have a beefy enough processor to handle the high definition streams coming out of Plex. I think everything else works well on it though I hear (Netflix, Hulu, etc).

That reddit posts says it handles 1080p just fine though. If chromecast can do it then fire stick should

There is definitely something wrong with the Fire Stick as I have never had these issues with the Fire TV in 6 months but am having it with every video on two different Fire Sticks.

I like my chromecast. Been seeing commercials for fire stick. What's the difference really?

Chromecast has no user interface and uses apps on mobile devices to start video.
Fire Stick has a remote and you install the apps to the device and there is a user interface to switch between things.
