I know Corey, Alex, and myself all have a LG 8.3" tablet. I think Brad has a RT Surface. Jayson has something too. What does everyone have and what do they use it for? Do you use it enough to justify owning one?
If I wasn't reading comics on mine I don't think I would need one. I hate typing on the larger screen so I don't like to do anything productive on it. Games are fun for awhile but I get tired of them quickly.

Re: Tablets
Kehly still has the HP Touchpad 10". I keep it running with the latest Android and she uses the crap out of it. Does a lot of cooking with the recipes on the tablet.
I have the Nexus 7 (2013). I usually keep it by the couch and browse the web or facebook on it. I also like to develop apps on it.
Not really a tablet: but I also have an HP Slate 21 Pro, its like an all-in-one desktop PC except it runs full Android. Kind of like a 21" tablet. That I use for work stuff.

Re: Tablets
I have a nexus 7 and the kids have 2 of them also, the wife has the nexus 10 and Reese has an iPad mini. I wish the wife would trade me for reading comics. The kids play lots of games on theirs and watch YouTube videos. Reese got hers free from a cancer organization and she plays and watches all kinds of things on hers. They use iPads at the hospitals and its a good distraction for her when they are messing with her at the hospital.
Re: Tablets
iPads are pretty much babysitters.
And Hunter, get the app Pushbullet and send me your apps! I wanna see them

Can't right now, all of my apps are for work. I will once I write one of my own, I have a few ideas.
Re: Tablets
Ah gotcha. I thought they were pet projects, not work related. Can you share your personal projects? And what language are they in? Are for all 3 major phone platforms?

Like can i share what my ideas are? Maybe, once I get going on them.
Right now I'm all Android, I've investigated a few cross platform build tools but most are too general.
Re: Tablets
Yeah, yes share your personal ideas. Wasn't sure if you wanted to wait to post about them so no one stole your idea. We do get a lot of google bots on the forum...

Yep. But I may share some later and if anyone wants to team up and help there's always plenty to go around.
Re: Tablets
I can collectively speak on every forum members' behalf that we have zero app development experience. I can maybe help you mock up screens tho!

Mock screens and graphics are a big piece of where help would be appreciated.

Worse, I wasn't even going to touch that.

Cwilkins and I attended a UX show and tell today about applications to design wireframe and screens for mobile apps.

Ah thanks. I was still contemplating how work meetings caused Tyler to "party off".
If you guys have ideas you want to investigate, we should definitely do that too. I can do/teach the underlying app code and its even easier with great designs to work from.
Re: Tablets
Chris (cwilkins) and I are both interested in UX design as a fun pursuit, but we have no project or direction in mind on how to get us started.
Re: Tablets
Games are a good place to sometimes start. Think of all the ridiculously simple, time-waster games there are out there.
Another good place is 'reinventing the wheel', somewhat literally. Find something novel that someone has done and do it better. Could be a simple as a calculator app or clock.

Re: Tablets
I really butchered that sentence
Re: Tablets
I don't really use mine for anything other than reading certification books on it and playing games when traveling. I don't really need one but it was so dirt cheap that I couldn't pass it up.
