I had a wild hair up my butt today and thought about going to 1gb, but forgot it was only 50 up... I want higher upload

PSA to call your ISP regularly and see what deals they have. My promo ran out so I was paying $90 for 200Mb. 5 minute call later and it's down to $50. She offered 500Mb for $60 and 1Gb for $70, but said I would need to use their modems for that plan and it requires a technician.

I explained I have a nice modem, but she said they would need to do it. If she could just flip a switch I would sign up.

I upgraded my internet from 200mbps to 1gbps, and my price went from 95/month to 68 per month. So huge win here.

Internet and Pricing

Spectrum doesn't offer anything other than new customer pricing. And they seem to know they have a monopoly in Maine so they don't even care if we threaten to cancel, since only other option is phone line at 15mbs instead of 100mbs

New customer switcheroo every 2 years between you and Sarah?

We are kind of in the same boat. Mediamcom that offers 100-1,000Mb or CenturyLink at 7Mb. Mediacom is still willing to play ball though.

I was jealous of Wilkins's new 1gb down and 60Mb up plan that I just signed up for it. Had to buy my own $85 modem. They are coming Friday to hook it up.

It is cheaper than the 200Mb plan I was paying before last week.

I got my 1Gb today. *only* getting 400Mb down at the most, but up to 70Mb down. I'm not going to lose any sleep over the missing 600 right now since I was mostly concerned with increasing upload and data cap.

I bought a new modem for this. My old cable modem isn't being used now. It's rated for up to 600Mb. I was using it on the mediacom 200 plan and would get 250. Anyone can have it if they want. Less than a year old.

No takers on the modem? What about an 8-port managed switch? I am downgrading to unmanaged. I don't want as many options!

Do you have a router. I think mine is bad.

I have an older TP-LINK 2 channel router that Corey gave me years ago. I would have to look to see what speeds it's capable of.

No it's alright. My speeds were atrocious this past week, but were back to normal last night. I'll keep an eye on them and see what's up.
