Internet and Pricing
Re: Internet and Pricing
I guess I like bothering Mediacom, because I called them this week asking about a better package and they said it would be $40 more. I asked again today and they said for $5 more a month I can go from 50/5 to 100/10. I jumped at that. Increasing monthly limit from 350 to 999gb.
I won't believe it until I see my bill. There are 4 of us at work who made the upgrade and I expect none of us will be paying the same. One worker was quoted at $30/month for this price, mine should be $45/month, and another is paying $55/month. Doesn't make a lot of sense, so we will see what actually happens.

That really stinks, and no other options?

I could do 20/2 for 60 or 50/5 for 80. The triple play is $89 right now with 50mb but I don't have any place in our apartment to hook up TV nor do we want to spend that much. Doesn't include any of the equipment fees either.
Our other provider has 15mb as their highest speed and its 50. Maine is the worst for internet

I watched on local TV. CF is the only gigabit city in Iowa. Discussing the city broadband plan and expansion. CFU is awesome, never had any issues with them.

Internet speed, how important truly is it? If you're not playing a ton of game or whatever. I average 25 mpbs on average and that is more than enough for us to watch netflix, both be on our computers and phones without a hitch. i guess what im saying is whats the advantage of having insanely fast internet.

Re: Internet and Pricing

I've always been of this mindset also. I just don't understand why I would need gigabit internet as a consumer, businesses I can completely understand.

Why do people need cars that can go 150+ MPH when they will never go over 80mph?

Because there might be a high speed chase. Or a world-ending earthquake that you have to speed away from as the ground crumbles just behind you.

Tyler, i love you absolutely dearly, but that is the worst possible comparison.
They would never/should never make a car go barely the speed you need it at for many reasons. Not to mention, if car can go 150, performance people are going to use it.
What i'm saying is, super fast internet COMPLETELY makes sense for business, i was talking as bmyoungs is about average user.
