New Tires

Postby Tyler » Tue Oct 14, 2014 7:08 am

I've never bought tires before. What do I need to know?
All-season. 60k thread. Walmart? ~$100/tire?

I thought Costco might be a good option but they are more expensive than Walmart. Walmart is $12/tire basic install and Costco is $15.

I usually don't by cheap tires. I'd suggest looking at reviews before making a decision.

Also wouldn't be a bad time to get the alignment check/adjusted.

My car has 222,222 miles on it. I don't want to get 90k miles if my car isn't going to live long enough to use them.

Good call on reviews though. Most on Walmart.com had 5/5 stars, but I should confirm my store carries those.

I got tires like 2 weeks ago and glad I got them when I did. No trouble on the snow today but my other tires wouldn't have been able to grip anything. Ended up being under $300 for tires, install, disposal of old.

Bump. Buying my 3rd ever set of new tires this Friday.

2014- Walmart with the Impala
Early 2019 - Terrain at Discount Tires
now - Jetta at Discount Tires again. Good folks over there and it was fast/cheap.

I plead the fifth....
Tire places don't offer alignments so I assume everything is going to be fine and don't worry about it?

TF tire places do you go that don't do alignments? Unless you're saying they don't offer them free with new tires

Oh shit. I feel real dumb now. Discount tire does not offer alignment and I don't think Walmart does either. Aka the only 2 places I have ever used based on my post from before
