I saw in r/Googlepixel there was a megathread for July update causing battery issues.

Oh cool.

No heaphone won't bother me I told myself. Bluetooth headphones when mowing. I'll just keep the dongle at work in my laptop bag. Last night I wanted to listen to a podcast while sleeping in Evie's room because she was scared of the fireworks. First time ever using earbuds at night. Of course I forgot to put the dongle back in my bag so today I can't use headphones at work.

New phone and phone news

I broke the screen on my pixel 2XL a couple weeks ago. Was bad enough to replace so I figured I'd save the $75 and do it myself. Well turns out when you unplug the bottom screen connection it can ruin the transistors that control the bottom speaker (which is speaker phone, sterio audio, alarms, ringtones etc) no way to repair and it's not in any screen replacement guides.

So I ended up buying a Moto G6 throu fi and I am so far very impressed by a $150 phone. For a 5.7" screen it feels very small, camera isn't the worst, and i don't notice any lagging. Android updates on it suck a big one but I think I'll be comfortable using this until I find a decent deal on either pixel 3 or even 4 if the 3 sucks.

Did you have hour pixel 2 XL financed through Google or Verizon? Or was it all paid for?

Going to try selling it back to Google?

Financed through Google but basically paid off. Im too nervous about getting nothing to trade it in so I'll probably just put it on eBay for a couple hundred bucks

Everything works but speaker which sucks for me but for parting things out it's not in bad shape. Figure I'll try to get 200

I completely forgot this event was yesterday, too swamped at work to follow any of it.

3 new products with dumb names?! This is going to be so confusing to parents everywhere. Dropping the 8 line and skipping the 9?

XR - cheapest option, has a bigger screen than the Xs but only 1 front facing camera
Xs - Updated version of last year's X, not sure what is upgraded
Xs - Max - Biggest one (obviously). Same form factor of the iPhone 8+ but with edge to edge screen. STARTS AT $1,100!

Because I can upgrade yearly through Verizon. It was like a $30 upgrade for a brand new phone. Who wouldn't!?

$30 extra a month for two years* ?

But for real, what plan are you on? One where you pay a little more a month and then can trade in your phone for a new one every year?

Pay X amount per month. Once phone is 50% paid off (year), then you can upgrade by trading in your current phone and paying a upgrade fee

Aren't most plans between paying the full retail price or the per month option? Are you guys paying the full amount upfront?

Your X amount per month doesnt change based on the phone? Like an X is probably $35 a month whereas the XS Max would be $50/month on a traditional finance plan.

I've done a mix of payments and upfront. We currently own outright a Pixel 2 and Pixel 2XL with no device payments.

So you lied to us! It's not just a $30 upgrade. I feel cheated
