I broke the screen on my pixel 2XL a couple weeks ago. Was bad enough to replace so I figured I'd save the $75 and do it myself. Well turns out when you unplug the bottom screen connection it can ruin the transistors that control the bottom speaker (which is speaker phone,sterio audio,alarms, ringtones etc) no way to repair and it's not in any screen replacement guides.

So I ended up buying a Moto G6 throu fi and I am so far very impressed by a $150 phone. For a 5.7" screen it feels very small, camera isn't the worst, and i don't notice any lagging. Android updates on it suck a big one but I think I'll be comfortable using this until I find a decent deal on either pixel 3 or even 4 if the 3 sucks.

My Iphone which i only use as a camera and ipod has somehow updated itself and is now only useful as a coffee coaster. 150 gig of music trapped on a useless piece of *****..

Jocelyn got her Moto G Stylus today. There are 2 versions of the G. One has a stylus and better camera and the other a bigger battery. $300 and $250 respectfully. However, Fi was offering $100 off. I didn't realize this was like a month old budget phone. First impressions are pretty great. I only played with it a bit but it seems better than my Pixel 2xl in every way. I think the CPU is comparable to last year's Pixel 3?

New phone compared to her Pixel 2 that she started using after her 3a broke. Easily the biggest phone she has ever owned. It seems massive but very thin. She's getting a case later this week.

Pixel 5 review embargo was lifted this evening. I'm planning on getting one to replace my 2 year old Pixel 3. Mostly looking forward to a better battery and the same great Android experience from Google. The Pixel camera is a must now that we have the baby.

Should I buy your 3 as an upgrade for my 2? Lol. iphone won the week with phone releases. Their chips are insane compared to android, not that anyone needs that much phone processing.

I was actually planning on keeping it as a backup. Plus the battery can barely make it through the day so you probably wouldn't want it.

I do agree, but mostly because they added some compelling features (the mag-safe stuff and the lidar tech).

Agree 100% - at this point comparing processing power in phones is the tech equivalent of a "pissing contest." As long as it can run apps/and games with decent performance then who cares how much power it has? After my last couple phones I really am looking for better battery life anyway.

I have a pixel 4xl but almost want to get the 5 simply for the finger print reader back. With masks it's annoying not having that and being forced to use face unlock.

I have been burned in the past by getting a phone before the holiday season and missing out on a deal. Since I'm in no rush to get one (they aren't even available until Oct 29), I'm going to wait for Black Friday/maybe even December.

The lack of fingerprint reader is one of the main reasons I didn't upgrade to the Pixel 4. I had upgraded from the Pixel 2 to the Pixel 3 mostly for the wireless charging (plus they were giving a pretty decent amount back for Pixel 2 trade-ins).

I want a new phone, but I cant justify battery life until I leave the house for more than an hour at a time. Not hard to plug my phone in at my WFH desk (or office desk for that matter).
