Has anyone ever used SketchUp before? I think I'm going to download it tonight and try to plan out how I want my bar to look.

i have google SketchUp 8.
i used it from my parents patio area, and i done a few smaller landscaping areas. its pretty once you get use to it.
Re: Woodworking
I've used it before. Learning curve was a too steep when I tried it years ago so I just drew it out on paper
Re: Woodworking
I built this table last week. The chairs are from IKEA.

Re: Woodworking
I'm very impressed Corey. What did you seal it with? How soft does the top of it feel?

werd! great job! i like how it matches the floor
Re: RE: Re: Woodworking
3 coats of oil based polyurethane. It doesn't feel soft at all. You can't dig a fingernail into it or anything like you would before the poly.Tyler wrote:I'm very impressed Corey. What did you seal it with? How soft does the top of it feel?
Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: Woodworking
That's great. Our cheap table from the store that shall not be mentioned is so soft that it leaves marks in the wood when using a pen to write on paper.Corey wrote:3 coats of oil based polyurethane. Turned out really good. Probably because of having a table saw available to use.

Re: Woodworking
You didn't use the table saw for this? Kept all the top planks at factory width?

One last question, can you even feel the cracks between the boards after sealing it?
Re: RE: Woodworking
Yes you can. The poly doesn't affect the cracks that much. To not have the cracks you'd have to have perfect boards with perfect 90s on the edges. I was considering attempting this with the table saw but didn't think I'd do a good job with it so I left them and went for the more rustic feel.Tyler wrote:One last question, can you even feel the cracks between the boards after sealing it?

90 degrees are what table saws are for! You could have done it.
Re: Woodworking
Got a new to me tool chest today and got my tools all organized. They were mostly strewn about the bottom of my work bench and would get coated with sawdust anytime I used the saw. Still want to get some bins to put the bigger power tools in and put them on the bottom of the work bench. Right now they are just on a wire rack.

Re: Woodworking
Looks great and clean. Too clean....like you don't have any tools. This would explain why you didn't chat all night. Busy buying and organizing.
Did you try to haggle after the guy was an hour late?
