Apple Watch Series 4 starts at $399, packs larger displays and EKG sensor
The new smartwatch is set to bring a series of new features to your wrist and a 30 percent larger screen.

I like circle displays because they look nicer, but rectangle does give you more information. Having said that, that is a sharp looking smarch for an insane amount of money.

Smarch (Smart Watch)

I've had my smart watch for about 2 months now so I want to give a longer review.

I really like my Fossil Q - Sport that I got on sale for $150. Would I have bought it for more? No. Is this a life changing device? No.

Getting call notifications and texts/messages is a big help. I'm fortunate to have a job where I can regularly check Hangouts on my PC, so I don't get a lot of messages on my watch during the day, but it is helpful when I'm away from the computer. Having these notifications while traveling or out of the house is very nice. I don't always feel my phone vibrate, so it's nice to see that on the watch. I also find myself responding less to messages if they don't need a response, which is also a nice way to stay in the moment. If I get a text otherwise I feel the need to pull out my phone, respond since the phone is out, and then maybe check other things. I rarely respond to messages on the watch itself, but it is nice to have the ability to quickly send an "ok" from the watch while in a movie.

The watch has a lot of sport features I don't really use. Such as hate rate tracking. I do like that I can count my steps and not have to wear the fitbit. My work's insurance program doens't automatically link to Google Fit though, so I need to manually enter my steps whereas FitBit was integrated.

Battery life is pretty bad. It won't last from when I put it on in the morning (5:30am) to when I go to bed (10:00pm). I usually just take it off at home, but I miss out on the convenience then. This is my major compliant about the Fossil. I could maybe get 13-14 hours before it kicks into battery saving mode. I've been using this watchface which does help a little with battery. The complications I have with it are weather and battery life.

Overall, I like the idea of a $150 smart watch, but I would really struggle with paying more, even if it did offer better battery.

I got the new Wear OS update today. Did a little tutorial and it seems there is a lot more swipe functions added. I hope it somehow improves battery, but I am not counting on it.

<rant>It's dumb you need to factory reset your watch to pair it to a new phone. It only takes like 10 minutes for me to pair and add my custom watch face back, but it is going to take half a day to update all of the apps/OS on my slow wifi work and it will completely drain the battery.
1) There should be a way to forget a phone and pair a new one, without factory reset
2) Reset should go back to the last stable release. </rant>

New fossil watch out that has the new Qualcomm 3100 snapdragon chip. $255+

It has 3 side buttons that I don't like. That looks bad on my small wrist.

Only reason I'd replace mine is for Google pay.

Yeah it has all the features of the Gen 4 fossil watches but includes the new Snapdragon chip. I believe the watch body is different though. It's made of nylon so it weighs less and the screen is smaller I believe.
