Was the fossil sport on sale? I saw in the other thread you got Sarah one. I think that makes 4 fossil watches here? Can't remember what ej has.

I have Fossil Sport. I'm thinking about going into the local Fossil store and asking them why my GPS doesn't seem to work because in the few cases I've tried to use it (Golf GPS distance app, running) it has never been able to lock on.

That's funny I have the same issue with the GPS on golf apps. I have only used 18 birdies and seems to just default to my phone GPS. Maybe I'll try a different app. I normally use my laser in most cases but it's just another easy option.ejhartman91 wrote:I have Fossil Sport. It was/might still be on sale for 199. Not as good a deal as mine when I got it for 150 but it's our anniversary and she's finishing her MBA so it was good timing. We will see how she likes it.Tyler wrote:Was the fossil sport on sale? I saw in the other thread you got Sarah one. I think that makes 4 fossil watches here? Can't remember what ej has.

I paid for the Hole19 Golf GPS app. It's made for Wear OS and cost me $4.99 of my Google Play credit that I get from taking surveys, so I'm not that mad that it hasn't been working, but the running GPS I use Google Fit and there is no reason that shouldn't work.

$199 is pretty good. I also paid $150 for my watch last year, but that was Gen3.
Thanks to this thread I am learning my Explorist has GPS. I just assumed it piggybacked on my phone. Are you saying if I left my phone at home my watch has it's on built in GPS?! Magic. But would that even be useful if my watch doesnt have data without phone?
Also, since ej has Fossil that means basically all of us do. Who would have thought Fossil would be leading the (CPT) smart watch industry.

Well their smartwatch division was bought by Google so it makes sense since we are all Google dronesTyler wrote:$199 is pretty good. I also paid $150 for my watch last year, but that was Gen3.

Maybe a fix for slow performance?
I'm going to try this on my Fossil Sport. Someone on reddit said they did so and it improved performance.

When I got my gen 4 a few weeks ago I completely disabled the fossil app and Google fit stuff. They don't even show up in the menu. Not sure if that helps with battery or performance. You probably need the fitness stuff tho.

It definitely does feel faster, but that could just be placebo effect? My previous watch didn't even have auto-brightness and I never noticed any performance issues with it.

What setting did you go with? 2 or 3?ejhartman91 wrote:It definitely does feel faster, but that could just be placebo effect? My previous watch didn't even have auto-brightness and I never noticed any performance issues with it.

Tried 2 for a while then went up to 3. My battery life took a huge hit though. Then I switched back to auto brightness yesterday after trying to look at my watch in the car when it was sunny. It does me no good if I can't read it when I look at it, whether the performance is better or not. I also noticed it didn't seem to make it much slower. PLACEBO

What do you do on your watch that makes it feel slow? You must toy around with yours more. I basically just swipe away notifications and that is it.
Did you try disabling Fossil and Fit (if you don't need it)?

Opening apps can be pretty slow at times. I would say overall I'm not dissatisfied with the performance of my watch though. The biggest issue I have with mine is the GPS not working consistently across apps. I haven't disabled the Fossil app but I use Google Fit quite a bit.

Your golf apps and such? I basically use zero apps.
