Storage units

Postby Tyler » Mon Jan 04, 2016 5:56 pm

Does anyone have one? I'm thinking of getting a 5x10 unit and finally get my garage back. We have baby stuff that already needs to go into storage

Nope. But I do deal with them on a regular basis.

Be prepared for mice and spiders hanging out particularly daddy long legs.

If you're storing clothes. I'd put them in a garbage bag then in a tote. Remember to label.

Good tips. I have a lot of rubbermade totes, not a bad idea to bag first.
I finally have a good use for my Brother handheld labeler!

I have really nice overhead storage in the garage (I've posted before), but even that isn't solving my problem. Some stuff just can't be put in totes above your head. That being said, I could check Sam's Club for more shelves....

Edit. Here is what I did over the summer. I was limited by the height becsuse of the garage door. I guess if I added more to the other side I could drop them down lower...but I also have lights that would be covered.

On sale for $109

I'll call about storage today and do the math to see which makes more sense. Storage will obviously cost more long term, but that way it is completely out of the way.

Impressive, that is exactly what made me start looking into more storage. Jumper is in, swing is out.

This isn't going to fit on a standard shelf, it could fit overhead somewhere though. I know we will be putting more stuff into storage as Evie gets older.

Buddy said the same thing. All of our neighbors have really nice sheds, like poured pads, siding/shingles. If I did it I would want something like that and that would be a costly project. Plastic snap together sheds are cheap, but would be an eyesore in the back.

I'll take a picture tonight of the 3 sheds that are within 10 feet of my yard and how nice they are since you clearly don't remember!

With the help of you all I have talked myself out of the storage unit idea already. I will get more overhead shelves and/or get a tall ladder and check out the garage attic. I haven't even looked up there.

You should just have another baby so that you can keep everything in the house ;)

That's probably the most cost effective option.

Got into the attic the other day and tossed the Christmas stuff up there, that made enough difference for now
