I don't want Emoji's, I want image and gif search! Plus my Note 4 will never get Android N, it hasn't even gotten Marshmellow.

You gotta get on the Nexus bandwagon...

Did everyone else get bombarded with surveys over the last 2 days? Sarah and I each had 13 surveys today!

I've gotten a few more, but nothing like that. Are you guys going to a lot of stores together?

I did. Got like 5. Seemed random too... asked me about stores and events I've never heard of and buying luxury goods.

I disagree with this. Hangouts needs to stay around since its web based as well as app. I have Gmail/hangouts open all day. I would think Alla should replace the standard messaging app "messenger"

Yes. I heard on the daily tech news show that Allo will have SMS support. So it would seem that they may look to replace messenger with it.

a) what show is that? something you watch daily?
b) I am confused by "will have SMS support". I thought this was first and foremost an SMS app?

The Daily Tech News Show is a daily tech news podcast. The title explains it all - delivery of the day's tech news plus a little commentary from the host and guests. I try to catch it every day. They do a show Monday through Friday and are currently experimenting with a 6th show on Sundays delivered by an Australian host. http://www.dailytechnewsshow.com/

As I first understood it, Allo was to be a phone-number-based IM client (much like whatsapp - when you use the app for the first time, it asks for your phone number, and uses it to link you to other users in your contacts). In other words, all those messaged through the service had to have the app to send and receive messages. I guess if it supports SMS this would only partly be true.

Ohhh. I just assumed Allo could send/receive anything, I didn't even consider it might just be Allo to Allo.

A lot of these are interesting. I want to try the one that allows you to send texts from your PC, that might be nice at work.

Ah. Didn't know push bullet did that. I deleted push bullet because I had no use for it other than sending apk files to you

But can you respond to them? It sounds like this app lets you respond on your computer?

I used MightyText for a while. It worked well. I used it on my tablet and Laptops/Desktop. I recently switched to Verizon messaging because it's basically built in and doesn't require an app be installed.

Was going to try pushbullet until they announced their new pricing plan, plus I don't think pushbullet would work for my tablet.

I'm surprised you of all people use the Verizon messaging. I've never even tried it, but assumed it was junk since not put out by Android

It's not THAT bad. There is way way too much going on in it. I used to set it up on people's phones since it does automatic text backups. People always got pissy when their texts didn't transfer or comeback after a factory reset. Same reason I set up Google photos, save myself from an hour long content transfer
