Tesla and news

Postby Tyler » Thu Feb 11, 2016 9:15 am

The next Tesla car is expected to be revealed and made available for pre-order next month. And while the auto world is still waiting to see specs and drawings, one thing is already known: the price.

As promised, Elon Musk tells Bloomberg, the Model 3 will cost $35,000 — before any incentives.

Tax credits for purchasing electric vehicles could push the sticker price below the average cost of a new car in America ... maybe. The Model 3 won't go into production until 2017, and if it's delayed, the incentives that lower the price might not be available.

i heard about this yest.

It only matters yet for how far you can drive. If you can't do long distance of at least 4 hrs before needing a charge then not worth it, but be nice if can last 8 hrs.

Also there needs to be fast charging stations or have the roads help charge the car because I find it hard to believe people will want to wait an hr. for charging a car up while on the road.

There different kinds of stations.
Tesla Superchargers provide 170 miles of range in as little as 30 minutes.
There are also stations that physically remove your battery and put in a fully charged one.
If you stick to a specific route you can travel across the country and hit enough stations to make it.

I already pre-ordered mine. It came with an unlocked boss and two extra skins. Very cool deal.

I could totally see getting one. My average daily commute is 20 miles. A few times a year we go outside the range of an electric car, which I think makes up the majority of the US population.

Was telling Jocelyn about the auto pilot mode and she got excited about that. She gave permission to put the refundable $1,000 down for a place in line. Now that the pre-order queue is 250,000+ I don't know if it's worth it. Car doesn't come out for another 2 years and could be another 2 before all orders are fulfilled.

Cwilkins, you should do it! In that time your kids will be out of car seats. Would make a lot more sense for you to have it.

Scary stuff and sounds like a freak accident almost. Telsa did the right thing by talking about it first and asking to be investigated.
