If you didn't have cable that would make things easier. And if you didn't insist on a corner mount.

I had it not in the corner when we first moved in, but the room is long and narrow so the corner gives more viewing angles where having it flat against the wall basically gives one good viewing spot. Also, the modem would still have to be there unless I moved it to a different cable line upstairs.

ARC is making my new TV setup possible, but I'm also sad I had to change things.

My TV is across the room from my receiver. There is a single HDMI cable going from the TV to the receiver. Previously I had all my devices plugged into the receiver and that would switch inputs while TV stayed on HDMI 1 the entire time.

The problem with this is the cable going across the room isn't 4k. Im using the old HDMI via ARC to still control sound, but now I need to use the TVs HDMI inputs. The issue here is i had game consoles in the AV closet plugged into the receiver, now I need to figure out how to plug those directly into the TV that is 30 feet away.

I want to get a working steam link and just keep it plugged in behind the TV. That isn't 4k supported tho :(

Got my steam link working and behind the TV. The issue was the controller dongle but I have a workaround.

I bought a 50 ft HDMI cable to run from my gaming PC to the TV. Getting HDR to work on it is going to be the death of me. Idk if it's the cable, tv, or GPU. I fix one problem and it introduces another. I may just stick to 4k 30hz.

I did flip to 1080p and my eye couldn't tell a difference at 15-20 feet.

Bump soon for wags.

My new TV no longer feels new and special. It just feels like the size that has always been down there. Same with the bedroom TV that is 50% bigger, I already can't remember what it was like before.

Basically saying a new TV only fills the void in your life for about 4 weeks.

what features do you want, a lot are implementing 120hz. Some of the budget have meh hdr features. The TCL 6 series has great reviews but #spyware.

I'm considering lg oled as my next upgrade

At this point I know the features I want just need to know the right size. I would go OLED but if I go bigger than 65" OLED is no longer in the budget...I like the Sony X900H for price/features. I'm hoping there are some good deals this month as it tends to be a good time to buy TVs at a discount.

I wanted size more than anything, so I got a 75" TCL series 4 last year for like $550? I really like the Roku and other features on it, but like bmyoungs said, HDR sucks on these cheap TVs. I have not been impressed with the HDR at all, it could be the media or the TV, probably both.

120hz wasn't as important to me because I'll likely never have a video game console hooked up to it, other than my PC to play party games.

I've also got the x900h on my price watch list. I was close to pulling the trigger on the Vizio oled over black friday as it was down to 899 for 55"

I agree the 65" oleds are pricey, the 55" cx LG is 1500 and that's kinda reasonable.

This is about how high I mounted both of ours, so I don't have to look up at it, and can lay on couch and see it easily.Image

How far from the floor is the center of your TV?

Just for you I got my ass off the couch to actually measure it instead of lazily taking a photo. Both of mine are at 50" to center, totally did not plan or measure for that either.

Both of my TVs could be on here because of the fireplaces. https://www.reddit.com/r/TVTooHigh/

If you dont have a fire place then the center of the TV should be about at eye level when sitting down, like how an entertain stand when have it. People typically mount tvs too high when they hang them on the wall vs using a stand.

YES! This is the reason I asked. The electrical contractor had placed the outlet for the TV really high on the wall, and I today told him I wanted it lower. Thanks bmyoungs for measuring! I was planning to be around 50" or more from floor to center, depending on how big of a TV I end up with.
