Another annoyance with our vet:
I took Fran in last time (end of August) to get her booster shots, heartworm stuff, and flea and tick stuff. At that time, the vet suggested switching to a 3-month flea and tick medicine rather than the monthly because, overall, it would be cheaper. So I did that.

Fran is now due to get weighed for her heartworm medicine dosage, so I called them last week and asked if we needed an appointment. They asked if she needed anything else besides the heartworm stuff, and I said no, everything else is up to date. They then told me no need to make an appointment in that case and we can just bring her in quick to get her weight and the dose.

So, yesterday, Erin takes her in and gets the heartworm medicine. They also tell her that she needs a new month of flea and tick, so they sell her another 1 month dose of the flea and tick for 20-some bucks. Fran won't actually need another dose until December AND this dose that they gave us yesterday expires in November, so they just didn't look at what she already had from last month. I'm waiting to hear back from them to make sure we can just return it and be refunded. I know it's not a huge deal, but just annoying and another point to them only trying to sell us more stuff.

1800 pet meds or Walmart. Don't tell with them any more than required.

Yeah. Flea stuff is easy, but with heartworm they call your vet and verify things. Makes me feel awkward when I go into the vet now. It's a small town clinic and they probably know it's me that is ordering online vs them.

What is the price for the online meds vs at the vet? We do get a discount at the vet since we subscribe to the puppy plan, but maybe it's still cheaper online. I've been meaning to look into that further but with Fran still growing rapidly, I imagine her dosage will still change a bit.

For reference, looking at the receipt now:
Heartgard Plus (26-50lbs)- $9 for a one month dose ($8.10 with our 10% discount)
Nexgard flea and tick (up to 60lbs)- $25.70 ($23.13 w/ discount)
Bravetco flea and tick (22-44lbs) 3 month dose- $60.08 ($54.70 w/ discount)

I looked up the meds we get ours, and I think we'll need them to call our vet for both flea and tick (nexguard) and heartworm (heartguard plus). I'm not worried about it being awkward though. Looks like 1800petmeds has a 15% discount on everything right now which would save us money. Otherwise our vet is pretty competitive when it comes to pricing.

Unrelated: Linus got neutered today. The vet estimated between $230 and $330 total...

Ended up being $300. The range depends on how long they have to have them under anesthesia for.

Well they knew his size when they gave us the estimated range. Although they did try to charge us $11 more. He weighed in at 21.5 lbs and the invoice had a the surgical procedure priced at $80 for 26-60 lbs. We pointed it out to them and they apologized and credited us for the difference.

Thinking Piper (and now Bella) have yeast infections on their paws. Does anyone have experience with this? Maybe pictures? Recommendations?

Roscoe has had it. We shaved all the hair between his paw pads to help with moisture and soaked his feet in Epson salt baths, but then just went to the vet and got medication because medicine > not.

It could also be allergies. Roscoe's main allergy tell is licking his paws.

Either way, the vet will probably give then steroids.

Yeah piper has allergies too but this is different. She is obsessively licking one paw and a lot more than usual.
