We got a doggy door patio panel insert and it has been life-changing for Kirby. Before getting it he would always be around us but now he will disappear randomly for 20 minutes and go outside.

No, I think you're wrong.

I almost got one of those for Roscoe last year. It would be nice to have I bet for when Jocleyn is home all summer with him and he wants in/out all the time. Until she complains about it though I guess we don't need it.

Are you locking it up at night and opening it up during the day or only when you are home?

We put the locking thing on it at night and when we aren't home.

omg this is a must have for kathryn and I when we get a house.

Our dogs want out every 15 minutes and it makes me want to kill them.

Bella getting fixed was $300 somehow. I think Piper was like $120 at the place that Kinser worked.

That's a pretty big price variation for the same procedure.

I know!! But the place we took Piper was a no kill shelter sponsored by West Des Moines or Des Moines or something where everything is subsidized a bit. I think the vet is a volunteer or something also. The place we took Bella is a private thing. Piper even had to get a tooth extracted and it was still cheaper than Bella...

Ah, that makes sense then.

I'm not sure I really like our vet. Took Fran in for her first appointment last month and before they even do anything with the dog, they immediately start their sales pitch trying to sell me their monthly plans. I ended up going with their puppy plan at least for her first year since it makes a bit more sense, I just didn't like how they brought it up immediately. Then Erin took her to her next appointment last week and the vet tries upselling her on some other plan or insurance or something (we didn't go with it) and made her feel dumb for asking questions about concerns we have for the puppy's health. The vet care is fine, I just am not getting a good personal vibe with these people. It feels like you're talking to a used car salesman more than a doctor.

That's so weird. I've never had a vet try selling me on their service or anything like that.

Yeah, it seems like a lot of the vet clinics up here have stuff like that just from what I've seen on the websites. We'll see if we mesh a bit better over the course of the year. We have a one year deal with them for the puppy plan and if we need to we'll just switch vets next summer.

It's frustrating how you can't really shop around for a vet other than just look at reviews. Getting pressured to purchase things at a vet is not something I would like to be exposed to. And you even already bought one!!

I met Fran over the weekend. She's so soft and sweet. Evie liked when she chased her.

Jayson isnt but the rest of the family is. I am against it. I think we are just to busy for a dog and no i am not a dog hater i grew up on a farm so we always had dogs. Its just a little tougher with 5 kids and being in town.

So it is their responsibility and you are hands off? I can't wait to see a picture on Facebook of you sleeping in a lazyboy with the dog on your lap.

Kathryn/Crckr vs Ethan vs Wagner/Erin vs Corey/Meg

Who is more obsessed with your dog(s).
Criteria:
Frequency of baths
Number of walks a week
Number of times boarded
Where do they sleep
Webcam in house to watch them?
Number of monthly subscription dog toy boxes.
Numbers of pictures taken per day of animal

Anything I'm missing?

Frequency of baths: Depends. We've bathed her 4 times in the 2.5 months we've had her mostly after she plays at the dog park and gets covered in mud and slober from other dogs.
Number of walks a week: Erin takes her out daily usually
Number of times boarded: Never. She is staying with Erin's parents while we are in Germany next month
Where do they sleep: Kennel in the guest room
Webcam in house to watch them?: No
Number of monthly subscription dog toy boxes: Lol, none.
Numbers of pictures taken per day of animal: Probably at least one on average so far.
