Beer Money (side jobs for cash)

Postby Blue Jackets » Fri Apr 22, 2016 6:31 am

Do any of you do things outside of your professions that you talked about a few weeks ago to earn some money on the side? When I lived near the plasma place I would do that a few times a week. Any Uber drivers or other things?

I used to give the max amount of plasma along with random survey things. Didn't make much money doing it. The plasma was actually enough to help cover rent while Janelle was on bedrest during her pregnancy though, like $300/month.

I've considered doing something on the side, but I wouldn't want to do anything that's actual work. I actually applied for a couple part time positions for breweries around here because I think that would be fun but no, I don't do anything else.

When did you apply to those? A new wife isn't going to want her husband working part time. You'll need to hang pictures and take out the trash when you aren't working full time.

Lolz, I've applied to a few over time. Most recently was probably a month or two ago.

Keep us posted. Even if you did a few hours a week in the evenings it might be worth it. You research all of the contracting places and pick the best one.

Looked into it a bit last night. Doesn't seem like the best deal. They give you an "expected" time to complete tasks. If you end up taking longer you don't get paid for the extra time and it hurts your chances of getting more work. Might still try it but very mixed reviews online.

I teach yoga and barre at a local studio. I have 3 classes now, but will drop down to 1-2 once summer comes. I have fun teaching so it doesn't feel like a side job. Plus, it doesn't take up too much time and has a good hourly rate [OK HAND SIGN]

Found out today that I got the brand ambassador job for Badger Hill Brewing. I'm excited about it. It's a pretty low time commitment but it'll be fun. I start on Saturday! http://www.badgerhillbrewing.com/homepage/

I'm offended you didn't call and tell me the news since we talked about it last week.

How many hours a week is that? RIP free evenings/weekends.

Basically when they have an event they'll let me and the other brand ambassadors know, and I let them know if I'm available. For example, this Saturday I'll be at a tasting event from noon to 3. Most of the events are on Fridays and Saturdays.

Some breweries get hot babes to hand out free beer at bars. I'm glad your brewery does the exact same thing.

It's not really a side job, but I'm taking on an additional role at school starting next year for which I will get a stipend.
I will be a mentor to the first year teacher joining our team next year. I get paid to log hours helping her, go to mentoring meetings with her, help her create her portfolio, etc. It makes me feel old that I am considered experienced enough to have this job. Not sure I have a lot of wisdom to impart... but my principal wanted me to do it, and I look forward to helping her through what may be the worst year of her life. :)
