In related news, my internet has been at like 30% lately. I have the SB6183 cable modem coming tomorrow that I got for > $50 because of a slick deal

I called my ISP and they said I was getting full speeds into the house and they claim someone came to check the lines. I have an SB6121 that use to get 100+Mbps, but now 34. I hooked up an SB6141 just to test it and I got 70Mbps. Hoping the new modem fixes my issues, but super weird the old modem use to get me full speeds.

I have 100 mbps internet

my first test was like 93 mbps when it was first hooked up

Never have gotten that high since then. During the day it ranges from around 50-70 mbps. At night I get from 10-35 mbps until about 12 when it increases again

It did. Getting my 100Mbps now. The modem was delivered to the wrong house so I had to deal with that, but today it showed up.

Over the weekend I fished some ethernet cords through my walls and ditched the Powerline adapters. Finally back to 120mb down and a centrally located router.

After consulting Corey, I ordered this router today with my birthday money. Should get me better WiFi coverage/speed throughout the house. Currently using his handmedown TP-Link N750 that I have flashed with DD-WRT. It's a good router, but I'm wanting something that does AC and puts out a stronger 5ghz signal.

I was considering getting that after I saw it on slick deals. People on there seem to really like it. I'm still using the Comcast modem/router and I need to get my own so I'm not wasting $10/month.

Invest in a good modem and router.
Modem - refurb SB6141 (what I have, and Wilkins, and watson2000). $40. Good for speeds up to 343mb down.
Then get the T-mobile router. $100 all in. Pays for itself in less than a year and gets you better hardware.

I thought it would be nice to get this router for my parents. I didn't realize how bad Sheldon has it for internet.
Century Link - 12mb down/1mb up - $30 for a year
HTC

My parents get 5mb on their phones through most of the house. Seems almost pointless to get a better router to get them closer to their 12mb. Especially when the less than 1mb upload is probably what is causing the most problems with video chat.

I ended up buying them the t-mobile router regardless of this comment. When my parents are in the basement they can not Duo, a new router should help with this.

Wags, did you get yours all set up?

I did. The wifi range is better. Now I can be on my phone when pooping in the upstairs bathroom without switching to data.

Score! Were you smart enough to set up 2.4GHz and 5GHz?

Corey, Hayes, you, me, tylersucks

Is your desktop plugged in directly? Did the new modem do anything to increase that speed?

I have it plugged in. I just checked now and actually I am getting a pretty good increase in download speed. Last I time I checked I was getting 170mbps and this time I'm getting 208.11mbps. Upload is about the same at just over 12mbps.

ISP changed plans around and I fell in the middle of two of them. I asked about going down a plan to save money (same data cap, but slightly slower speeds) or up a plan to double my speed and double my data cap. For $5 more a month I bet you can guess what I did.

Should be getting 200mb/20mb/2tb for $60/month. (I fully expect to call in a few months when my price goes up more than I expected and I need to talk them down again).
