FYI: If you pair a Google to a BT speaker there will be a noticeable delay when playing that BT speaker in a Google Group. You can manually fix the delay in that speaker settings and it will only apply the delay while in Group mode. HOWEVER, the max delay you can apply is -200 milliseconds. That was not enough for my issue. I needed like double that.

Insignia's Google Assistant speakers now display the temperature at all times https://www.androidpolice.com/2019/03/0 ... all-times/

We were way ahead of this... We could have broken this news to the public. You heard it first from CPT!

I struck out after checking every Walmart in the metro area for the discontinued Chromecast Audio. 6 in total. I should have just ordered on eBay from the the beginning. Just placed my order. Using BT with Google home causes the speakers to be out of sync and I can't live with it.

Uh oh. I have a feeling you won't like the Chromecast Audio then. I can't have speaker groups with Google Homes and Chromecast Audio as you can't adjust the delay enough to make it work. I haven't tried in a while but that was my experience in the past.

Oh no. I thought Chromecast Audio and Google Home would be perfectly in sync since it's all the same app and no BT protocol. The app only allows 200ms adjustment for groups and that wasn't enough for BT, maybe it will be for Chromecast Audio

It wasn't for me. I think it's because it goes through the receiver and gets processed there too.

I got my Chromecast audio today. Synced perfectly out of the box to the Google Home group, no delay required. Sucks it doesn't work for you Corey. Now I wish I didn't waste the $20 on the Bluetooth dongle

I haven't triggered the "thank you for saying please" thing yet, but Evie just did when she said "ocean sounds please" to Google

I don't think any of us have this? Just the Lenovo smart displays.
Source: Google Home Hub will be rebranded as Google Nest Hub

Some fear this means the Google Home app is going to change

NEST HUB MAX: HANDS-ON WITH GOOGLE’S FIRST SMART DISPLAY WITH A CAMERA
10"
$229.
Camera

Same style as the little 7" one, but much bigger. It looks cleaner than the Lenovo I have now.

The biggest thing the Nest Hub Max is doing is facial recognition. If it sees you in the room, the smart display shows your icon on the screen and customizes what’s shown on the display for you. If there are pending messages or reminders, they’ll pop up. It’ll show you calendar events, too.

Google had their Google home hub nest display hub on sale for $50 for YT TV members. I think 4 of us here got one?

It's so much smaller than my 10" Lenovo. Screen is less glossy, which makes the pictures look more like they were printed. No camera of course.

I think I'm bringing it to work for basically a picture frame, weather, calendar. I'll never talk to it because that would be annoying to peers and I'll keep it muted. Not the best use of it for sure.

I brought it to work and immediately ran into issues. My phone and hub could not see each other while on the open wifi at work. Makes sense, they don't want open devices to be able to talk back and forth. I was able to connect to wifi though and everything pulled up correctly, I just wasn't able to make any changes to settings via the app. I reset the hub and thought I would create a hotspot and try connecting the hub to that, nope. Doesn't work that way.

I'll bring it home again tonight. Reset it up at home and configure the settings exactly how I want. Bring it back to work tomorrow. Connect to wifi, and hope I never need to make any changes via the app.

Wags and Corey. Is the Google nest home hub life changing?
