TL;DR - Google made an IA that played against the 3rd (I think) best Go player earlier in the year and won. It caused a lot of excitement.
Google unleashed the AI online and didn't tell anyone where it beat the #1 player.
Google is starting to have the AI learn Starcraft.

Playing under the pseudonym of Master, AlphaGo won 60-0 against professional opponents in online blitz matches. Nearly all of its opponents were top professionals, including world champion, Ke Jie, who AlphaGo beat 3-0.
I always thought Go was a different name for the game Othello, but I just learned they are not the same.
