I've only heard stories of the terrible diarrhea people have gotten from eating the wrong food. Have fun!

Boarding in twenty minutes. Heading over to do some retraining and motivation type things. It's 24 hrs total travel. Des Moines to Denver to Munich to Mumbai. On the way back, Mumbai to Newark to Chicago to DSM.

Will be by myself the first four days, then a couple co-workers will join me.

Will do a few festivals and then go do some touristy stuff, go see the ocean, etc.

Is India half a day ahead or behind? If ahead, happy birthday Wilkins. Flew around the world just to age faster (or slower)

Subtract 1.5 hrs from your time, then add 12 hrs. It's ahead. Thanks :)

Is that how you've been converting Fahrenheit to Celsius out there?

I usually just say, okay, if fahrenheit is XX degrees, and the formula is F X 1.8 +32, then i can guess that it is currently "fuckinghot degrees celsius"

Right at the beginning of summer. Currently its about 97 with 88% humidity, but around july, that can hit 112 with higher humidity. Then they start giant monsoons that shut down the transit systems.

Wilkins has been telling me about how valuable the dollar is there and I didn't quite believe him.
After doing some Googling... average yearly salary is $1,600, but I have also seen average monthly is $295.
80% of the population live for less than $2 a day
You can usually eat a full meal from a street vendor for well under $1.

He did say that the hotel chargers American prices though. $8 for a beer.

It makes a lot of sense why Indian guys in IT move here. They can send a small part of their paycheck back home and that is plenty for their family to live off of.

That sucks. I wonder if the hotel employees get paid more since the company is getting American prices. Probably not.

I bet the prices are correlated to good safety. Obviously the street vendors will be that cheap, but eating at a touristy hotel you expect to not get sick.

I wouldn't worry about that.
