From my understanding we have always had their b-ball, they just changed the name of it.

This is dumb....
It was announced in February that the minor-league basketball organization would be become the NBA Gatorade League (NBA G-League) at the start of the 2017-18 season.

Yup- G-League. Good for them though- hopefully the players get paid more now

I go to about 10-15 SF Skyforce games per year (affiliate of the Miami Heat)

I saw the Energy play a few times last year in SF

Now their mascot sounds much less like a WNBA team.

that's the point and that's partly why the Skyforce agreed to play in there vs the larger Sanford Premier Center. Pentagon holds around 3200 I believe

Only 3,000 people show up to games like this so looks better vs 3,000 in a 15,000 stadium arena. Plus no bad seats in the house.

NBA teams have played there, Cyclones, etc just for fun

I have been an avid consumer of Des Moines minor league sports for about nine years now and the minor league basketball has consistently been my favorite. Bummer that they finally got away from the awful "D-League" and straight into a hackey sponsorship-name that makes no sense whatsoever. But whatever. I'll still be in the stands!
