Wow. Disney got a great deal on those! I would like to see how much money Marvel/LucasFilm had made Disney vs how much Candy Crush has made Activision.

It honestly feels like there is some overhead company that secretly owns it all. I can't even shop or use an app anymore without wondering if it's secretly owned by a company I might dislike.

Amazon to buy Whole Foods for $13 billion. That's a weird one

I think it makes a lot of sense. It advances Amazon into two areas they've been eyeing for a while: groceries and brick & mortar. But don't take my word for it; I'm only a PARTIAL genius*.
Here's an article from Th'Atlantic that I have not read but I assume it is thought-out and insightful:

*Does an encyclopedic knowledge of Oreo flavors qualify as "genius"? In modern America I assume so.

How wide spread are the current Amazon self service future grocery stores?

I forgot they were a thing, if that tells you anything.

I read about the Amazon taking on Whole Foods. My hope and I'm sure the hope of others is that Amazon can help to lower the prices of the grocery items here. I like shopping there, but the phrase "whole paycheck" is a real thing.
I haven't ever heard of self service Amazon stores and I love grocery shopping.

How do these shopping channels survive? Who uses/watches them?

Apparently, not very many people.
Even though QVC is clearly the larger, more profitable television retailer of the two brands, the merger indicates dismal times for television shopping, as viewership slips and both companies scramble to turn their business models into digital, online strategies.

Microsoft use to have a platform similar to GitHub, they must be buying the userbase for this price.
