Venmo vs Google Wallet vs Paypal vs Facebook money

Postby Tyler » Mon Jun 12, 2017 7:41 am

What do you guys use to send money? I have been using Paypal for 10+ years. I have used Google Wallet a few times.

I really didn't understand Venmo until it was discussed this week on my podcast. It sounds very similar to Paypal (and Paypal even owns them, but they don't want people knowing that), but it's more "hip"? I don't understand the point of using anything other than Paypal since that has been the standard for so long.

I use PayPal for the most part. I have used Venmo but I don't really know what the difference is. I knew it was owned by PayPal, but why don't they want people knowing that?

I sent my sister some money via facebook once just to try it. I like PayPal best just because it's the most established and what I'm used to.

Paypal is much better. If people don't have paypal in a group thing, I use splitwise, so they can choose.

Venmo is more messaged based, but Paypal is more formal and transaction based?

PayPal Is Ok If Millennials Don't Know It Owns Venmo
TL;DR Millennials think Venmo is "cool" and Paypal is "lame". Crckrjack refused to have a Paypal until Wilkins and I refused to pay him back in any method but that.

I hate when people ask me to buy something for them on eBay because they don't have PayPal. Just simply sign up for it...

I'll do that for all my friends. I have a square reader and I'm still under my "referral bonus" of no fees charged so I just make them swipe their card for the price and then I'll buy their product for them. Usually I get their money before mine actually comes out.

I have used all but Facebook. I don't really prefer any over the other.

This but with Amazon Prime. I swear my sister is asking me to buy her something every other week. I guess it's different since Prime isn't free. Her and my brother-in-law also use my Netflix account...freeloaders

They only let you add one adult. I already have my wife added. You can add 'kids' but I don't think they are granted the ability to place orders. I think they can only access shared content.

True. In the past you could just add 4 accounts, now it's only 1 other one. Those with 4 were grandfathered in I think.
