What a ride of a story.wags83 wrote:Funny story about this. We have a perfect little spot for garbage cans right outside our garage. It's a 2-stall garage with an extra wide driveway and the driveway pavement extends a bit past the front edge of the garage, leaving a perfect paved spot for both the garbage and recycling. In fact, it's where the previous owners had kept their garbage cans (as far as I know, for all 10 years they lived there). When we moved in in June of 2017, I continued their tradition of keeping the garbage cans in the spot seemingly made for them. About a month or two into our tenure of living in our house, I get a letter from some C U Next Tuesday from the city saying it's a city ordinance that garbage cans cannot be visible from the street and this is my first warning and further warnings could result in fines. So after almost a decade of the garbage cans being in their spot on the side of the garage, I get bitched out after a couple months.
Anyway, I now keep them on the paved patio behind the garage, still outside but not visible from the street.
You should put them back in that spot and see what happens. I assume they threatened the older owners and they just kept ignoring it for 10 years.
This is America! No one can tell us where to put our cans of trash!
